Will all tints scratch?

This is my first tint job so I'm a noobie with anything associated with tints.

This weekend when I had my car washed I noticed some minor short streak scratches at the base of my driver window. When the windows raise/lower, you hear the felt material grazing each window. Well last week when I would raise/lower the driver window I heard some faint extra scraping noise. I'm sure it was to blame.

But should I expect this to happen to any window that raises/lowers? I'm used to no tint film and no scratches anywhere.

I cringe now whenever someone inside my car touches my windows with their nails.

Should I just expect the tint to get damaged as time goes on?

i dont have tints but im pretty sure you're supposed to keep your window closed for a certain amount of time before you can roll them down. id say at least 36-48 hours to be safe. you should go back to the place where you got them done and find out what the problem is.

Well, my car and tint is far from 4 days old. I have 4,000 miles and my tint is about 2 1/2 months old. My question is, since tint is susceptible to scratches (and windex) do you who have tints just live with it or do you get new tints every so often?

You should ask your tint installer if it's covered under warranty. I've never had any problems with the door trim scratching the tint. As for self inflicted scratches I've only gotten them from keys brushing against the tint.

mine have a few small rips in them somehow. I was planning on going darker at least up front. It's 25% up front 15% around the backs. I want it even all the way around + windshield tint. I'd say find the BEST tint shop around. I paid $150 and it doesn't look bad 6 months later but I notice it.

You need to put your friends/girlfriends on the sidewalk if they're touching your $300 tint job.

Check/clean your rubber seals to see if there is debris from the tinting.

they will scratch if something sharp enough gets to it. my tint got scratched from my bike hitting the window. not too bad for me to care, but my tint installer said it would be a 10 dollar fix

Thanks for the input all. I'll call my tint shop and inquire.
