Question CVT reliability

Hello out there,

soon my Jazz CVT is 3 years old and so the warranty is running out.
Actually, I am still very happy with the car and would like to keep it some more years.
Therefore, I would like to find out more about the reliability of the Jazz/Fit CVT gear.
Since I did buy one of the first Jazz CVT in CH it is not easy to find out much, here around.
If there are some other CVT owners in other countries, which did already drive a lot of mileage/km (> 80’000km), please tell me about your experiences with the transmission (also mention the mileage).

Have already searched for, but could not find a similar tread.

Found that have to change the CVT fluid every 20,000km (NOT 40K like the manual says) to maintain smooth operation. Mind you I also change my Genuine Honda oil every 5K not 10K for the same reason.

Hey JazzEr,

You say you have over 80,000km on your Jazz. Could comment on the overall reliabily of your Jazz. I don't have a Fit, but am looking to buying one when they are sold here in Canada. I'll assume you have had few, if any problems with you Jazz. Looking forward to your reply.

Hello,

@ vividjazz,
thanks for the info. I will think about.
Especially the link is very helpful.

@ Daņiel,
actually, I just did drive 57’000km yet, but there was only very little problems.
- The sealing on the door window didn’t stay in its original position (dos not happen anymore on the newer models)
- In my opinion, the brakes were down to quickly (changed during 40’000km service).

Otherwise, as I already mentioned, I am still very happy with the car.
That is the main reason why I would like to keep it longer, even after the warranty is finished.
The only doubt I got, was because a German auto magazine did make a 100’000km test with a CVT Jazz and they did have to change the gear, after approx. 60’000km.
Now, I would like to find out, whether this is a single case or I will have to expect similar problems after a certain mileage.
