Dodge Caliber?
You lease a Dodge and buy a Honda. Do you really want to have a Dodge for more than 3 years? Once the mileage runs up, look out. You will start having problems, then think I should have bought the Honda, maybe I can trade it in? O wait I'm upside down in my loan. O damn the transmission went out, now I'm really screwed! I sould have bought the Honda, now I really can't afford it.
If this doesn't sound familliar to you, if you buy a Dodge it will.
Don't get me wrong, I drive a Dodge. But all the problems I have had have been covered under warranty because I lease. And nobody beats a Dodge on a lease.
Nissan GOD

They forgot to change the water pump when they changed the timing belt? Did a bunch of chimps work on your car?? WTF kind of mechanic changes the timing belt and ignores the waterpump???
Something funny is going on here.
and that's why i leased.
and yes saint, i do believe something fishy was going on... i took it to my local VW dealership to have the work done and it took far longer than expected and cost a tad more than expected. interestingly enough, i took the bugmobile to the VW dealership a town over for another problem and we discussed the timing belt issue and they said it shouldn't have taken that long... interesting no?

It sounds like the dealer screwed you.

Get you deposit back if they said they could supply you the day you signed. Man, I'd be pissed. Then again, I'd never buy a Dodge. Sorry, had to say it.
Ouch, that sucks. Taht was pretty crappy that they didn't tell you that before you signed the papers.
Let me get this right....you bought (leased) a Caliber & signed for it, then they tell you they don't have any right now, and that it will be a month before yours comes in. Are you making payments on it yet?.. will you make a payment before you see your Caliber?

Couple thoughts-
Superbang- if it matters (eg. you're PO'd about not having the car delivered to you) most states have statuatory "cooling off" periods between signing a contract and being bound by it. The dealer's failure to deliver the car may well postpone the beginning of that "drop dead" period. In other words...if you now wish to back out of the lease, you *may* have grounds to do so.
On the other hand, the Caliber doesn't seem like a bad car at all. Didn't even know about the Caliber until I read about it here. Just visited a nearby dealer, and the car is pretty cool! Of course I'm anxious to see the Fit / Yaris / Versa before making any decisions...but my current lease runs until June anyway. But I can understand how being "car less" can make one impatient to just buy something. In some areas, though, you can rent an econobox car for around $100 / week...
PS- the salesman at my local dealership was excellent...quite knowledgeable, not pushy. As I was leaving he introduced me to the manager who mentioned...they have a $199/month lease (with a $900 down payment) that is starting up on the Caliber...in addition to $500 factory cash. Sounded pretty enticing!
PPS- the Caliber looked *so* out of place in the Dodge showroom with all the musclebound looking V8s with bling-bling grills and other pimped up accouterments, LOL.
