Is the ultra-cheap carpetting really so necessary?

even so, i don't expect my mats fabric to start coming apart. I'd expect the mats to also have some kinda of anti-wear piece on the heel of your feet too. Im happy with the car don't get me wrong, but some things are a bit iffy.

super cheap carpet for a cheap car... i got the carpet floor mats for mine for another 99 bucks. sad... the car dosent even come with floor mats. im pretty happy with mine aside from this. dog hair seems to vacuum out easier on seats compaired to my 98 hatch. and im starting to get the fender bumper paint problem on mine now

I was able to fully inspect (inside/out) a Sport model this past Thursday. I was generally impressed with the quality of the materials aside from one blatant exception: the interior carpetting.
In all my life, I have never seen such a disapointing choice of material for carpetting. It looks and feels like utter crap! It's so bloody thin! It makes my base '91 Civic's carpet look like it came out of a Rolls. How much economies of scale can this poor choice generate for Honda?
I guess they're hoping that nobody will notice. Wrong!
Shame on you Honda for letting the bean counters decide what is essentially part of a vehicle's inner epidermis! I hope the 2008 model rectifies this visual/tactile attrocity.

The "floor mats not standard" is a Honda thing, at least in my experience. So far I have had a 1987 Accord DX Coupe, a 1993 Accord LX-i Coupe, a 2001 Accord LX Coupe and now the Fit, all purchased new . . . none came with floor mats.

My Sport AT arrived in November of 2006...by the first oil change I was noticing heavy wear in several places in the drivers compartment. The dealer looked...and clucked a lot...but did nothing. By the third oil change I had no less than 4 holes completely through the "carpet". I raised such a stink with the dealer they've decided to replace it....but they're going to replace it with the same c***. So I'm headed to an interior shop to get an all-weather mat put in.

I bought from College Hills Honda, Genuine Honda Accessories, News, and Information from College Hills Honda. My dealer couldn't/wouldn't match their prices.
I got parts accessory parts for my car for the same or cheaper then here. i got my all weather mats for about the same price and my cargo cover for about $80-90 i dont remember
