Re:Tire Choice w/16" Alloy Rim Option

So I've been building and pricing my Fit on the Canadian Website and I want the 16" alloy wheel option. However, they state that tires are sold separately are the following choices; Bridgestone Potenza RE750 or Dunlop SP Sport 9000.

Am I bound to what 2 choices of tire brands they have given me?
I would rather choose my own goddamn tire brand suited to my needs, desires, driving patterns and budget. I can see myself actually hauling 4 tires of my choice into the dlrship for them to mount before driving away my new car.

Any thoughts or comments?

I think it would be criminal if they held me to their endorsed brand and if they had to order through them what was not listed!

I went through the same issues when I ordered my 5 sd sport. In fact, the "recommended" tires are high end performance tires that list almost as expensive as the rims themselves. If I didn't buy the tires but bought the rims, they said to me that they would simply put the four rims in the car when I picked up the vehicle. You can literally buy the rims directly from almost any honda dealer parts guy for 10% off parts list or about $1100 - note the listed pick-up and buy price "without labour" is about $1234. The new car website quotes over $1300 but that's with some labour for the dealer for installation but not sure what they are talking about if there are no tires.

I negotiated with a couple of different dealerships in the GTA (many wouldn't) on doing a swap, give me the 16" HFPs with the high end Bridgestones and you keep the stock 15" rims and tires that come with the Sport. It was the best solution for me on day one. I'll buy cheap winter rims and better winter tires in the fall.

I tried negociating a credit for the 15" all-season Bridgestone Turanza tires, as well as the 14" all-season rubber. The credit was ridiculous - $200 in the case of the Turanza's.

Aftermarket rims and summer tires would probably be a better choice. You can always use the 14" steelies for winter, as long as you can combine them with decent ice radials.

As for the 14" all-season rubber, you can always ask for a credit or try selling them on your own. Either way, you pay the piper for a given amount.

I would go wth Dunlop or YoKohama
I had both brands before and they are great on dry road.
Dunlop is great on wet road and Yokohama is not.

Cheers

What is the offset of the HFP 16"ers?
