With so many rumors about the crx coming back, I think the fit will fill the void . because we all know the crx is is never coming back. I can see the fit being the crx of the future.

Fun.
Cool.
Small.
Sporty handling.

These are two different lines. I see your points and they are close but I think they target on very different market segements. CRX - low end 2-seater roadster, Fit - 5 Passenger econ box.

My comment was only reflecting on how I think the fit will fill teh void the crx has left in many crx fans hearts. Yes they are different target markets but. Cheap and sporty is cheap and sporty. No matter how many doors you throw on it.

 

I just finished reading about CRX on Wikipedia. According to the article, CRX was launched as the Honda Ballade Sports CR-X in Japan. But was marketed as a variation of the Civic on other markets:

 

Speaking of Civic variants: If Honda brought in the three-door Civic, especially the R version, it would definitely be my first choice.

 

I wouldn't go off and say this the next CRX, but I would agree that is has the potential of becoming something great in years down the road.

 

Far from a CRX. insight is the closest thing to a CRX.

CRX did not have power steering, vtec, magic seats, etc. However, mileage is comparable to the smaller lighter CRX.

 

WOW you people are missing the point completly. I'm saying that the CRX and the Fit are both sporty, cheap, easy to modify and lots of fun to drive.

I seriously doubt that we will get the CTR in the states. They're pushing the Si too hard, and they're still reeling from what they percieve as a complete lack of demand for hatchback performance cars (i.e. weak-selling EP3 Si).

Anyway, neinbalance, I do see what you mean. Both cars are cheap, sporty, and overengineered for what they are, and I could definitely see the Fit becoming as much of a cult favorite as the CRX is.

 

What's interesting is that the new CRX might not be based on the current 8th-generation Civic platform!

There might be a chance that the 2nd-gen Fit probably due with the next 18 months could spawn a two-seat CRX variant, which makes sense since a Fit-based CRX could still have its gas tank under the two passenger seats and because it's based on the Fit, it will be very light just like the old Civic-base CRX models from the 1980's and early 1990's. With the Fit likely to get a new I-4 engine, a sport version of that new engine (maybe full DOHC i-VTEC?) could make the new CRX also be quite fast, too.

 

I think it's a fun car but not cheap for now.......... 16470 for a base one cmon u get better than that for the same price

 

Seeing how I currently have two CRX's at my house, maybe I can comment appropriately.

The CRX was sold in three variations:
HF ~ 50mpg basicly equipped
DX ~ 40mpg better equipped
Si ~ 30mpg best equipped

I have an '89 DX and a '90 Si. The Si is my daily driver, and I've recently given my DX to one of my daughter for running back and forth to college.

The CRX is a hatchback, first and foremost. In some parts of the world it was sold with a back seat in it. There have even been those in the US who have purchased and installed this in their cars. In my DX, I installed seat belts in the "rear" for those emergency trips with more than one passenger. The mounts where there and the belts were available at Napa auto parts...

Depending on the flavor, it'll either return awesome gas mileage or very good performance.

The Fit's performance is on par with the CRX DX model. The DX weighs right at 2000 pounds and has 92 hp (old ratings.)

I've hauled a bunch of stuff in my CRX's over the years. People were always amazed at how much would fit in there.

I have a Fit on order, and it is going to be my new 4-door CRX. After I take delivery of mine, I'll be doing a couple of minor things to my Si and selling it.

For me, the two are quite comparable, and I can definately see the login in comparing the two!!!

FWIW - one of my other daughter's has a '93 Civic Si hatchback. The versitility of the hatch is what has been a major plus for most of the Honda's that I've owned. The Fit will be my 10th Honda car. 8 of these have been hatchbacks (two 4-dr Civics - have to keep the Mrs. happy!!) and to have that with the current lineup, you'd have to go with a CR-V or Element - both of which get, relatively, poor fuel economy.
