Question - VSA/Traction control
All the fits, fit base, sport, sport w/navi are all the same car for cost reasons. The blank spots isnt for us that have the sport but so honda can add navi and vsa to the sport at the assembly line. So yes i think its possible. I would assume you would have to install from scratch. you would have to install wheel sensors, directional sensors, and wiring. As for the computer program i have no idea. Id say go to a junkyard and buy a fit carcas, drag it home and attempt to move the vsa stuff from the junk car to yours in a garage, computer included. After that you might know enough to look up the parts and construct a how to. I doubt no one wants to tear apart their brand new fits to that level at least till the warranty runs out.
After studying the official service manual I think it can be done.
I do not have access to a part catalog, so I don't know what wiring harnesses would have to be replaced - there is no socket for the 'VSA Off' switch, for example. It appears that VSA uses the standard ABS modulator, however, and that is a $900 part. You would need to install a yaw sensor (under the radio) and a steering position sensor, but again, I don't know if the wiring harness needs to be changed for these.

This is universally true. Any automobile or motorcycle costs far less than the sum of the costs of its individual parts. Honda is pretty good at maintaining parts inventory for a long time (which has overhead costs for them), but in my experience, prices start to go up after 10 years -- at least for motorcycle parts. Perhaps it's a way to encourage people to buy new vehicles.
Yah. . I was just looking at some of the parts charts and stuff the other day... (on bernardi, etc.)
I have a base, btw, but of course I would love to have VSA, etc.
But looking at the parts lists... VSA related parts seem like they are priced at MUCH MUCH higher than the $1800 that you have to pay ontop of the fit sport to get the navi/vsa model.
As such, I do not think that it is really economically feasible to add VSA to either the base or the sport model... unless you can acquire the parts cheaply off of a totaled fit sport navi.

Yep. I worked for four years in the IT department for the factory that made all of the external rear view mirrors for Ford, Nissan, Dodge and most GM trucks and a dozen or so other cars. Our F150 mirror cost about $10 to make. We sold it to Ford for about $13. If you need a new one from Ford parts it will cost you $175 and you still have to get the shell painted.
