* New Fit Sport Engine/Transmission Problem! *

Friend just bought a brand new Honda Fit Sport and after driving it for about 50 kms, noticed that the gear shifts were really aggressive/obvious and not smooth at all. The car was not driven hard and is a brand new, so there shouldn't be obvious damage.

One thing to note is, the car was in neutral and was rolling very slowly like 2-3km/hr and the handbrake was pulled by accident. Could this be an issue? I believe handbrake has nothing to do with the engine/transmission and the car was in neutral anyways.

Looking for some insightful info from the experts on here!

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with your Fit, that's how the tranny feels with these cars. It took me some getting used to too and for me it's more noticeable on downshifts.

i'm just assuming your Fit is a 5spd AT? others have mentioned changing the trans. fluid after 15k miles -- if my conversion is right that's 24,135 km .. those who have changed their trans. fluid said that shifts are less jarring and increased mpg somewhat.

hope that helps

Thanks everyone for the responses! I drove it last nite and it seemed to be fine. I did notice the shift change and I think it is rather slow (~0.25-0.5 secs), especially 2nd-3rd. However, my biggest complaint is that it did have some sort of lag (probably same problem as civics aka. drive by wire throttle) when I apply throttle. Example: approaching red light to make a right turn, slow to 5-10km/hr, road is cleared, when I apply gas/throttle, it sorta lags and I have absolutely no torque and the car just creeps along for at least a second before it starts picking up. I know that it's a Fit and it only has 117hp (before anyone steps in to say I'm expecting too much...), but I dun think that was the issue there. More of a ECU issue or the drive-by-wire system.

Any comments on that issue?

Thanks!

Get a throttle controller??? They are pricey but they seem to do the trick according to everyone who has one.

Yeah the throttle does suck at low RPMs with the DBW system. Like TurboMan said, a lot of people are rocking the Blitz TC and said it's one of the best mods they've done to their Fit.

Thumbs up Blitz throttle controller

i had a Blitz throttle controller up until recently when i sold it to help pay for some bills. the response that you get in any of the four selectable modes (eco, sp1, sp2, or sp3) makes a world of difference. it makes an already fun car more funer'er

now that i'm current with all my over-due payments, i've already started saving to buy another one.

Long range analysis is diufficult but our Fits shift easily and smoothly but the shifting can be jereky if it is not done correctly, as in cltuch in shift, and clutch out. If you rush that sequence the synchronizers get a beating and get erratic.

I went to the dealer for an oil change and inquired about a trans fluid change too (AT). the tech said the fluid looked like it was getting dirty, but then another tech said don't do it until the Maint. Code for it comes up.

I dunno who to listen to. Have 42xxx miles. Any suggestions?
