What does "GE" stand for?

I am new to this forum and don't have a clue what "GE" and "GD" stand for.

Thanks in advance for an explanation.

I am glad that I asked because I would not have guessed that in a million years.

I don't know where to find the chassis code but I checked my VIN and it has GE8 in it.

I understand that indicates a 2009 FIT which is good since I purchased the car in March of this year.

Thanks guys...

GE stands for "good enough". the approach the engineers took with the GE's. GD stands for "giant d*ck" because anyone who bought a gd has one (women excluded).
