Can a newbie ask a stupid question ,what is a GE or GD or GE8, GE6, etc ?
Inquiring minds what to know ? I'm on my 2nd FIT but no idea what these abbreviations mean.

 

GD is the first generation Honda Fit.

GE is for the 2nd generation Fit.

GE8 is the chassis code for the USDM 2nd gen Fits and i believe GE6 is for a specific model outside the US.

GD3 is the USDM first gen fits chassis code.

 

They're chassis codes. The manufacturers come up with their own codes, Honda's typically being two letters and a number. The GD is the previous model Fit (01-08), the GE is the second generation (08-present). The numbers usually have something to do with the engine it comes with. I'm not 100% sure what the difference between GE6 and GE8 is, so someone else should be able to fill us in.

 

GD = God Dang!
GE = Got Excellence!

i think we get the GE8 and the GE6 are in europe. the GE6 has a weaker engine i believe. correct me if im wrong.

GE6 = 1.3L L13A i-VTEC, 100 HP

2001-2008
GD3 = 1.5L L15A VTEC, 110 HP
GD1 = 1.3L L13A i-DSI twin-spark, 82 HP

GE7 - 1300cc, 4 wheel-drive
GE8 - 1500cc, 2 wheel-drive
GE9 - 1500cc, 4 wheel-drive
