I saw a post a while ago explaining my question but I can't find it.

I know the difference between a GD and GE but would my '09 Sport be considered a GE3 (3rd Gen) or GE9 ('09 model) or something else? And if I am wrong on all counts, what does the 8 after GE signify on my VIN? A GE8? My VIN starts as such:

JHMGE8

(disclaimer: I am perfectly fine just saying I have an '09 Fit. I'm just curious)

 

Its a GE8. It means you have an L15.

GE is second gen.

They don't change chassis codes each year.

 

Calling it a GE8 makes no sense to me albeit I over-think everything.

So as an example, since the "8" designation means L15, the 1st generation Fit/Jazz came out with a 1.3L, so what would it be? GD (what?).

 

I believe the 1.3L is the GD1?

 

1.3 GD is a GD1.

Integra GSR/Type R was DC2, Integra LS/RS were DC4. That doesn't mean the LS/RS have 4 litre engines (or the GSR/ITR have 2 litres at that)
