not that i've ever seen yet, and i think believe it stays on till you turn it off yourself, or atleast that is what i have learned from it.

Unlike most Honda's, the Fit does not appear the feature an off timer on the rear defroster. The owner's manual states "turn it off when you don't need it". I have not verifed this, though.

Well every other Honda/Acura has a rear defroster timer circuit. I have a feeling it wouldnt be too difficult (or expensive) to buy the part and wire it into the Fit to get the rear defroster to automatically shut off.

I guess it's not a big deal to shut it off manually, but it's something I would have to get used to doing.

Yeah but I am forgetful. I dont want to damage the rear defroster or any rear window tint that I put on if I do happen to forget.

When you push the button, does it click in or does it come back out? If it pops back out, would be easier to rig a timer circuit.

As if they removed this basic timer. *stunned*

My '93 civic is the same without a timer on the rear defroster...but in all the years I have had tint on it (6 years), and all the times I have left it on for say 30 minutes or more (50+) I have never had a problem with the window tint bubbling or peeling away from the defroster elements. I really don't think it is something to worry about.

What trim level that 93 Civic? I'm driving a 93 Civic DX while I wait for my Fit, and it has a defroster timer.

Here's hoping this is a US only thing.

** EDIT On the Honda Canada site, they list a defroster with timer. Where as the US site doesn't list a timer. Time to ship some Canadian buttons to the US. *

Wow why is it that the Americans get shafted with the lack of a rear defroster timer? I mean it doesn't cost that much to add a cheap timer.

Prolly because 50% of Americians will never need to use it, so they hosed the Honda owners in the Northern USA.

any way to find out what part is needed to make it have a timer? Does the US one at least reset to off when you shut the car off and restart it later?

Everything is incorporated into the defroster switch. Odds are the Canadian one will plug right into the US harness. I'll be shocked if Honda changed the plug.

For some reason the brochure I got from the dealer and the online one in
Canada shows the Rear Window Defroster with timer in the Exterior Features section.

And yet my Owner's Manual says to turn it off.
