I would rather believe your dealer goes bankrupt before Honda's
MT supplier.

This is not the shmoe on the sales floor that knows nothing. And this is in Canada, not the US (not that it should matter). This dealership is running at maximum capacity. They won’t be going under anytime soon.
do you think that a big multinational corp will hinge their whole operation on ONE supplier?
if you look at distributor caps, they have like 3 or 4 different OEM manufacturers..

I love the paddle-shifting 5AT, and I am definately a MT guy, this is my wife's car, but I love to drive it.
Of course they may have more one than supplier for parts. But don’t compare a distributor cap to a transmission. The distributor cap is something extremely simple to manufacture.
Where as a transmission requires production of various gears, bearings, rods, shims, shafts, etc., all parts that need to be produced before assembling the transmission and shipping it to Honda. The automatic and manual transmissions share next to nothing, so ones the transmission manufacturer has ordered the parts to build a specific ratio of manual and automatic transmissions, they can’t exactly build more manual transmissions just like that.
Honda could request more manual transmissions, but since it would be a smaller order, they would be charged more and that would cut the profit margin yet again.

as i stated the distributor cap is just one example..
again, i ask, you think that a big multi national is going to hinge their entire product line on one manufacturer? it's like McDonalds buying their french fries from one guy

I am enjoying my Automatic. It is so nice not to be shifting in traffic. The sport mode is terrific! It allows you control over your r.p.m.'s just like a stick which is nice ascending or decending twisties or mountainous roads so you are not riding the brake. Paddle shifters are a $1000.00 premium on a Porsche!

Don't forget Honda is producing more than just the Fit, and odds are they don't deal with 1000s of transmission suppliers. They probably have about a dozen to cover all the models they produce. Too many suppliers and odds are quality control would be impossible.
It's not like walking into the local pizzaria and ordering a large peperoni pizza.

Did you speak to the same dealer? Are you posting under different aliases? Are you cheffyjay's dealer?
