tank 1: 40.4
tank 2: 40.5
tank 3: 45.2 (leisurely trip to mountains @ 50 mph)
tank 4: 41.61

FYI: oil minder switched to 90% at ~ 580 miles,
80% at ~ 1290 miles.

driving style: upshift at 3000-3500; don't use a/c unless hot, drive at speed limit or 5 over, rural/highway, little city stop/go driving.

I've been getting somewhat sucky 30mpg on 2 full tanks and then another only had about 26. Mostly city but mix in some longer freeway drives. I'm kinda disappointed. I'm not racing it or anything, but I'm not holding back either. Any tips?

My dealer said that there's not much difference in the gas mileage for the AT and MT for the Honda. Was he wrong, then? I hope so!

I don't understand that. I have just over 2k on mine now and averaging all the fills, I have an average of 35.98mpg. My last fill yesterday was after a 296 mile trip and I got 35.95 mpg on that hwy/mtn/and cty and that was with some pretty good hills and spirited driving through the cachuma pass. My best so far was 37.5. I find I get a better average driving the car and not babying it.

Check your tire pressure.

I am consistently averaging 32.5 mpg with a mix of about 65% fast highway driving (85 mph) and about 35% city. I have not altered my driving at all to try to get higher milage...I would guess I hit 6000 rpms on at least 1/3rd of my shifts in city driving.

I am quite happy, having come from 21 mpg average in my Element.

I have 3500 miles on the car, so I am guessing it is pretty much broken in, as far as gas mileage is concerned.

Some Tips

Other than the usual driving techniques, two simple things you can do to maximize your milage: 1) Increase your tire pressures (mine are at 36 psi). 2) Use gas with minimal (ideally zero) Ethonol.

So this brings up the question...how is Shell Gasoline claiming that their gas will give you better gas mileage when their gasoline can contain up to 10% ethenol?
hehe
