Post price of new car

Hi!

I'm thinking of getting a Fit Sport AT w/o navi. I don't have any experience buying new cars and even less understanding of the dealer system but I'm educating myself through online tutorials.

I got some price quotes from the dealers in the area and they are around $17000 give or take including dest not including tax or lic. However, one dealer said he has two (one white, one black) 2010 cars on special for 15988+tax+license. My questions are:

1. is this a good price? (seems to me to be so)
2. why would two cars only be on special vs the rest of his Fit fleet?

Thanks!

The two cars are probably on special because they've been sitting there a while or because he isn't finding many people interested in those colors. When I was shopping for my Fit, the dealer I bought from didn't have one in the color that I wanted and kept offering me the Tidewater Blue or the Black one they had on the lot; I kept refusing. But it would have made his life easier if I had taken one of the ones they had around!

BTW those are good price quotes. If the color doesn't matter to you, go for one of the ones on special. I had a particular driving need to have a BBP Fit, so I held out for mine. I probably could have negotiated a lower price than I paid if I had gone with one of the ones on the lot.
