Is that what that is? Had the same sound from my wife's Geo Prism. It's not really a crunching noise, it's more like a tumbling noise, like something is tumbling inside the wheel well. It only happened when first rolling the car out from park.

My Fit Sport MT does not make any such noise at all, however.

I'm ressurecting this thread to ask about my transmission. I have the auto sport, and I've noticed that when I'm completely stopped and shift from D to Park, or vice versa, the transmission makes a very audible noise as it shifts. I can't hear it when my radio is turned up, but when it's silent I can hear it easily. I'm not really sure how to describe it.. it doesn't really sound like metal on metal. I'm guessing this is completely normal and all of the auto Fits make this type of sound, but I wanted to check here to be sure.

Mine does, and I believe I heard somewhere that it's normal.

Completely normal. Mine does too...as stated previously, something is engaging in the transmission. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's good to hear that it's normal. I also noticed I can only hear it when the windows are down, so it's really not THAT loud.

Everyone its normal !!! My dealership had a new car owner seminar, they said this is normal. The ABS system actually is pivoting going into reverse after drive and versa/visa. I thought the tranny was going to drop the first time I heard it. NOT TO WORRY your FIT is going to run 4eva, they told us that too !!!

Bumping this for a question along the same lines. I notice the same sound, but also the rpms jump around 500-1k from going from R to D...normal?

If your car is cold, yes it is...it momentarily 'unloads' the transmission (out of gear) while the engine is at cold idle (much higher than hot)...ever notice how you have to hold the brake slightly more when cold or else it will start moving away?

My base auto

Sorry all, I guess that I have a "bad" tranny...
I tested my Fit out yesterday in the garage at work: no noise...
I am not a mechanic but: maybe some of the transmissions were not secured properly?? I have my Accord that will jerk a bit if I shift into D or R at fast idle. Most likely it may be noise from another area? Like the brakes? On my little hill of a driveway sometimes and I put the parking brake on when I get out I hear a noise coming from the rear brakes. This does not happen all of the time though. My Fit had to brake in a bit. Ha Ha... Was at Walmart the other day and got one of their antenna ball: little devil with wings... ahhhh cute and a bit strange too!
