Unhappy Dealership Accessory Install Prices

Hey there fellow fit freaks!

I have a three week old SSM Fit that is awaiting some of its accessories.
Rubber side moulding, door visors, and rear bumper appliqué which have been paid for. Including a cargo tray and carpet mats the price for these was $475.

The parts are waiting at the dealership and waiting for the install. I called last week to make an appointment and asked for a quote on the labor costs.
I almost pooped my pants when they quoted $380.

Personally I don't think it is worth it, but I'm not too excited about doing it myself. I managed the floor mats and rear shelf install just fine, but I'm terrible with adhesives. And those visors look like a pain in the ass to install.

So... is this a fair price they quoted? What options do I have?

I am going to be calling an independent mechanic in the next couple of days to see if they'll do the work. Is there anything I need to ask or make sure of before I jump in?

Any help would be appreciated. Especially from people in NOVA area with mechanic/body shop knowledge.

Obviously paying some guys to stick plastic onto your car for $380 is ridiculous... I can tell you from my experience (done it twice) that the rear bumper applique is very easy for anyone to do. I wouldn't expect the side molding to be any harder, just take your time and do it right. I don't know how the oem door visors are installed (I'm guessing they're the Honda ones, not the Mugen), but I doubt there's more to it than taking some of the rubber molding out of the window & using some pre-attached 3m tape. If you were to pay the dealership, you'd be paying them $380 for work that wouldn't take even 1 1/2 - 2 hours to do total.

Edit: I looked at the installation manual for the OEM visors and it's pretty simple as I said. As long as you follow the instructions that come with each accessory you bought, it's pretty much idiot-proof. Save yourself the money (and you could have bought everything for $400 shipped from Bernardi Parts... which means you didn't get jipped as bad as stealerships usually do with accessories).

I just bought our fit a couple days ago. I wanted to add carpet mats, cargo cover, and full size center armrest. Prices from Honda's website are $500 for all 3. When the salesman and I sat down to talk about pricing their cost was around $750 installed. I told him I can buy those 3 parts for $375 and install them my self. I offered to let them do it for $500, he took it to the sales manager, and it was okayed.

I did the bodyside myself. They come with template so easy to center.

I would not put the rear piece onthe bumper. I took mine off. It is cheap looking.
