Question What is the highest MPG on Gauge?

I was wondering. I was thinking of resetting my mileage at the top of a big hill late at night, putting the car in neutral with the key on but the engine off and coasting for a mile or so to see what the gauge would read, anyone tried this?

I have seen 20.9 MPG at a sustained 100 MPH...

150 mpg. Drive to 80 mph on a highway, hit the trip reset and pop into neutral. Then watch it plummet as you hit traffic.

Smile Well...129.1 MPG

I still haven't had the Fit on top of the big hill near my house in the middle of the night with no traffic...but with light traffic I popped it into neutral and glided down the 0.6 mile hill in idle...clearing the trip odometer...

I also got 150 mpg indicated going down the mountain Sunday. Topped off the gas in town (6000ft MSL) and drove down to the bottom of the hill in fourth gear, using the brakes as needed and not needing to touch the gas pedal. After14 miles and about a 5000ft drop it read 150mpg. I never knew it had a third digit. GM rental cars with trip computers always topped out at 99mpg.

Man I wish I had an instant MPG readout...I used to get a giggle when I'd coast in out Saab 9-5 and it would jump up to outrageously high mpgs...100+

If 150.0 is the highest the gauge goes up to...I have cleared it twice on the car on the same hill, only I left the car in gear. One time it read 122.8 and another time 150.0.

the only problem with this is that the stearing wheel will lock up because theres no power steering going on, so you won't be able to turn.
