Just adds pollutants to the air idling. Get in and drive it within reasonable limits til engine temp light goes off.

In winter I go turn my neighbours car off if he leaves it to warm up too long. Now he has gotten into habit of running the A/C on our worst smog days. That will end too.

What type of Fit are you driving? I have a GD3 and I have a temp icon that goes away when the engine is warmed up.

Start it and drive it, but keep the RPMs and load low. I try to keep it below 2,000rpm until the blue C goes off.

I start mine and back it out of the garage. I get out and shut the door. By the time I'm back in the car, about 1 minute has elapsed. I back down the driveway and drive down the residential street where I live at about 20-25 MPH. By the time I reach the traffic light at main street, she's warmed up.

I DO take it easy for the first few minutes of driving, but cars warm up faster and more evenly if driven.

-snerk- LOL! Since when has a 5 minute warm up become a 'standard'?

Sorry. Had to get that out of my system. The GD3 also has the 'cold' light in the cluster. That's odd... I haven't seen mine in some time.

Usually like to drive block & 1/2 before I get to the expressway, after that I like to keep the RPM's down till I hit a couple of miles.
