Alignment problem ???
Alignment problem ???
Hi !
On a flat road, the car go straight...
In the right lane, the road pull to the right and the Fit go straight...
In the left lane, the road go to the left but the car also go to the left...
I just saw that my front right wheel is perfectly centered in the wheel well
but the left one is more to the rear (6mm actualy)... It seem like the caster
on both side is different. Could someone please verify this on his Fit for me ???
Please make me feel better, I had so many alignment problem w/ my previous car
Thanks,
Philippe

Roads are usually "crowned" to allow rain to run off - depending on where you are in the world this can vary a lot. Crowning can make the car tend to turn "down-slope" a bit, even more if it is a front wheel drive. Is the pulling you experience very severe or more gradual? Does it pull when cruising along or under hard acceleration, or braking?
I found this bit of info on another list:
Unequal Caster Effect
- to offset road crown, the top left steering knuckle
is always leading the right; the right side has more
positive caster. Too much positive caster out of
factory specs causes hard steering and excessive road
shock and shimmy. Too much negative caster causes
instability at high speeds. When caster is out of
factory specs, the vehicle should be checked for
loose, worn or damaged suspension and steering parts
before alignment. FRAME DAMAGE also affects caster
angle.
(Unless you hit something I think your Fit is too new to have worn out the suspension/alignment points.)

Ok so yes the right side have more positive caster...
I can confirm this as I calculated the distace between
both front and rear wheels and the distance is shorter
on the left side by 6mm. Since caster is not ajustable
on our car, why is there a difference from front to right ???
Maybe something was bent durring transportation... I
will call the Honda dealer tomorow... Maybe someone
could measure his Fit for me...
