Availibility of manual Transmission models

I ordered a MT Sport Fit a month ago, with my dealer promising delivery in 8-10 weeks. The dealer now says that Honda put a hold on MTs for some unknown reason and has just begun accepting factory build orders as of June 16. He now tells me I must wait 8-10 weeks from June 16.

Has anyone else heard of a Honda hold on Manual transmission models? Or is my dealer screwing with me?

Waiting for a Red MT Sport.

John

I looked at a few different sources online and went onto honda site to see if they sent out any press releases on this. There wasn't anything about this type of act, and I would think that Honda starting to accept build orders would be big news because that is a major change. I personally believe it is another dealer making up excuses to cover their @ss. The fact that Honda didn't anticipate such a large demand for manual transmission Fits is the biggest problem. A while back another loser dealer told someone that the supplier for the manual transmissions had gone into bankruptcy so they couldn't get any. Sorry to say but I bet that an allocated Fit didn't come to them like they had planned and had to tell you something.

I looked into the Fit after I read the Car and Driver Article that raved about the Fit. I then started researching the internet, Edmunds, FitFreak, etc. I ordered mine on April 26, 2006. Specified exactly what I wanted, Black Fit Sport with only a manual transmission. I picked it up on May 20, 2006. It was a dealer trade. I am very satisfied. I live in the Cleveland Metro Area and they have been selling as soon as they come off the truck, although I haven't seen any except mine! Be patient, if you wait you will get it.

Yeah dealers dont like manuals because they are hard to sell, the dealer that I bought mine from had it for 2-3 days before we bought it. All the auto's that I have seen locally are gone the day they come in. Everyone I talked to said you couldnt order a fit just need to get one allocated to the dealer or a dealer trade.

Sounds like your dealer found out they won't be getting a MT for a few months, and it inventing stories. Depending on the volume of Hondas and part of the country, dealers are having a REALLY hard time ordering manual Fits, especially the Sport.
