Do NOT buy from Sonic Electronix - BUYER BEWARE

UPDATE 3/17/11 : I spilled my feelings in an e-mail for my displeasure that didn't think anyone would reply to. One of the people who works for Sonic Electronix, his name is Wes , called me back yesterday after receiving my e-mail. He did his best to compensate for my experience.

I didn't think there was anything he could do but Wes from Sonic Electronix exceeded my expectations, treated me like I was an important customer, and handled the matter professionally. And, he kept his word with everything he said he would do. I am very thankful that Wes called me back and I have done a 180 on how I feel for that company thanks to the call from Wes.

I feel that Sonic Electronix should hire more people like Wes and that he is an asset to their company. He says he will do something about their customer service and he will speak to every rep that talked to me during the several calls I made.

I've had a very difficult past 2 weeks trying to deal with Sonic Electronix. Prior to making my first purchase, a Double Din touch screen dvd/cd/mp3 player, I made calls asking SPECIFICALLY when I would receive the items if I paid that day. The (at-first) friendly associates told me they will ship it out that same day if I pay that same day before 1pm. March 4th, I paid at 10:00am. I call back and they say "yes it will ship today; don't worry we'll take care of that for you." I called about 3 times on March 4th (Friday), making sure I would receive my item by at least some time next week. Each customer service rep assured me I would receive it on Thursday, March 10th.

The weekend goes by and I haven't heard anything so I assume it, at the latest, shipped out on Monday. The week goes by and I schedule appointments for Thursday night and Friday night (just in case it arrives a day late) for the stereo installation. I had a vacation planned for Saturday, March 12th, that was to last 1 week and I would be doing 7 hours of driving each way.

Thursday comes along and after taking a 5-hour long final for one of my classes, I realize it is 10:00pm and I have yet to receive anything.

Friday comes around and after USPS and UPS drop by my neighborhood and gives me NOTHING, I realize that I will not have enough time to install my unit before the trip. I call Sonic Electronix again and they sound very apologetic. They tell me "oh, the wiring harness was out of stock and we didn't want to ship out the items individually. Please forgive us; I will forward this to my supervisor asap." I tell them, "No! I want my money back now because I made sure that everything was in stock when I called you guys and you told me it would be here Thursday! You could have at least e-mailed me telling me about the delay." They decide to cancel my order on the 11th, promising me that I will receive my refund by Monday. It is NOW Thursday and I haven't received my refund. I called them today again and requested to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor sounded very nonchalant and he told me it would be an additional 2 days before I receive my refund. I mean, c'mon! Your e-mail told me 2-3 days and that I should expect to receive it by Monday.

Now, aside from that whole situation on top. I guess I made a HUGE mistake by trusting them AGAIN. After they agreed to cancel my order and give me a refund on March 11th, 2011, I got an e-mail giving me a coupon code to get 15% off my next purchase or so. Assuming I would receive my refund in a timely matter, I made my purchase using that 15% off coupon on Saturday, March 12th. They PROMISED ME my items would ship out on Monday, March 14th, 2011, and that I would receive it by Thursday (tomorrow). I followed up on Monday and they assured me that they are shipping it out that day and that I would get a tracking number. Come tuesday, no tracking number, so I call them again and a customer service rep tells me FOR SURE it will ship out tuesday and that he will handle my order personally himself (just like what 2 other people said previously). I felt assured until I called them about an hour ago asking if my order was actually shipped yesterday. The supervisor I spoke to said it hasn't shipped yet because my dash kit not in stock. THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS IN STOCK EVERY TIME I CALLED!!! Why do they keep lying to me?

So now, I have filed a claim through paypal asking for my refund and I am waiting patiently for my stereo unit... This is just very irritating for me. I was LUCKY enough to get my vacation PUSHED BACK to this coming saturday but it looks like it is a non-factor since I probably won't even get the unit by then...

Sometimes, you try to give someone a 2nd chance (for me it was the incentive of the 15% off coupon) but they fail to make up their mistakes and instead repeat them.

This is my personal story that I am STILL enduring and I warn that you guys pay the extra money and buy your electronic goodies elsewhere.....

Interesting. I ordered my sub woofer from them on a friday and it shipped on monday. I was emailed a tracking number by ups and sonic. So I'm expecting it to be here by friday. According to ups. Unless something got messed up with my order and I receive the wrong sub then they have done their part so far.

Well, they FINALLY shipped out my order just now... After one week *boo* and it looks like I won't be getting it in time for my 1 week trip. They SAID today on the phone that they will contact the accounts department to give me my refund even though they said the same thing about a week ago... I don't know. If you had a good experience, kindly disregard this thread... I just want people to beware because I gave these people a second chance and they repeated their mistake.

Sorry about your misfortune. I have ordered more than a few times from them over the years, and have always received everything within days, and a tracking number to boot. It's hard to beat their prices.

i haven't heard too many bad things about them. i always compare prices with amazon, though. amazon is almost always VERY close in cost so i always buy from them since i've only had good experiences and that peace of mind is worth it to me.

Remedi- We apologize for the issues you experienced with our business. We strive to offer the best service possible; we're very displeased to see that lack of service you received. We generally are VERY punctual in getting orders out, especially when the order is placed in the morning: the backorder is no excuse as you should have been advised of the delay from the get-go.

We are delighted to see you gave us a few other chances and finally, Wes from our Customer Satisfaction Team was able to assist you. Wes is a prime example of a great associate who has a strong commitment to all of our shoppers; especially you.

If you ever need anything in the future, please feel free to contact Wes at anytime. His direct line is 661-670-2504, I'm positive he'll take care of you for all your orders to come!

I had a very positive experience with SonicElectronix. Price, ordering process and delivery were better than most. We have all had a bad shopping experience one time or another so I feel your pain but your signature is not a very good message. You might consider changing it.

All of my experiences with SonicElectronix have been great as well, it's odd to see a bad review for them. Glad all worked out though.

Exactly what you said. I have a long history with SE and I've never been anything but completely satisfied with there products and service. They even once sent me an upgraded headunit for the same price of the one that I wanted that wasn't in stock...

Two thumbs up for SE
