Honda fit engine problem model2005
Honda fit engine problem model2005
Hi I need some immediate advice on my Honda fit 2005.
I am told by my mechanic that my engine mounting is spoilt but was told that if I don't want to change I still can drive. The only issue is that when I am stationary I will have the rattle sound. In term of driving there won't be a problem.
However I realize some weird symptom that is when I am stationary for too long I will find out that my car engine seem to be about on the verge of dying off.I need to accelerate a little in order to power up the engine. It seem to me that this problem always occur when I am on stationary car when more than 30mins.
I told the mechanic and they told me that car is old is common to have this symptom . If want check need a computer software and cause quite a lot of money.
Anyone has this problem and can advise please.

Yes, you can drive on a worn out engine mount.... but your other mounts are going to be worn out very quickly if you do. I would replace it as soon as you can afford to.
As far as the dying when idling a long time.... try cleaning the throttle body.
*Be VERY careful* choosing a cleaner that is safe for the sensors in the throttle body. Many carburetor cleaners are NOT safe. Brake cleaner is NOT safe.
*Do NOT force the plate* in the throttle body to move... the motor and gears are fragile.
The good news is that the two problems are not related to each other.
