*** UltraGauge User Discussion Thread ***
I've decided to start a thread to discuss the UltraGauge.
Right off, I am in no way associated w/ the company and have not been prompted by them or their associates in any way and have absolutely no monetary interests or gains to be had.
I just like it and figured others might as well.
I've had one for a month or so and have been using it to watch fuel trims and try to see if fuel grade has any effect on them.
Results? Forum search 'ultragauge' or 'fuel trim vs fuel grade' and see.
Thing is I was able to do it, and I'm thinking that's pretty cool.
The 'brain' of these cars has intrigued me and the UltraGauge has given me a look inside, not that I always know what I'm looking at or what it means.
Here's what it can tell me about my FIT.
UltraGauge Gauges Available - 2010 Honda Fit MT Sport
In order of selection - gauge numbers for reference only
1 % Engine Load
2 Engine Coolant Temperature (degF)
3 Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 1

6 RPM
7 MPH
8 Timing Advance
9 Intake Air Temperature (degF)
10 Mass Air Flow Sensor 1 (gr/s)
----------
11 Absolute Throttle Position 1 (%)
12 Bank 1 Oxygen Sensor 1 (voltage)
13 Run time since last start (hours:mins)
14 Distance traveled with Check Engine Light On
15 EGR Flow (%) Commanded
16 EGR Flow (%) Error
17 Evaporative Purge (%)
18 Fuel Level % of fUll
19 Number of warm-ups since Check Engine Light Cleared
20 Distance traveled since Check Engine Light Cleared

21 Evaporative System (PSI)
22 Barometric Pressure - Inches of Mercury (inHg)
23 Catalytic Converter Bank 1 Sensor 1 Temperature (degF)
24 Battery Voltage
25 Relative Throttle Position (%)
26 Absolute Throttle Position 2 (%)
27 Accelerator Pedal Position 1 (%)
28 Accelerator Pedal Position 2 (%)
29 Comrnand Throttle Position (%)
30 Mass Air Flow Sensor 2 - calculated (gr/s)
----------
31 Instantaneous MPG
32 Average MPG General
33 Average MPH General
34 Average G/H General
35 Run Time General
36 Distance (miles) General
37 Fuel Used (Gallons) General
38 Instantaneous Gallons/Hour
39 Fuel Level
40 Distance to Empty (miles)
----------
41 Time to Empty (Hours:Mins)
42 Average MPH Trip
43 Average MPG Trip
44 Fuel Used (Gallons) Trip
45 Average Gallons/Hour Trip
46 Run Time - (Hours:Minutes) Trip
47 Distance - (miles) Trip
48 Oil Change Distance (miles)
49 Service Distance (miles)
50 UltraGauge Internal Temperature (degF)
You can see it's a rather long list. What I can tell you is that their is a need to calibrate the gauge to the car.
Really isn't that hard, the web site goes into it.
The unit displays three pages of six gauges each - that's a total of 18 out of the list of 50 you get to choose.
It will also scroll through the pages automatically if you like.
I'm looking to start feedback from users and open questions from all to get this thread rolling.
Right off I'm wondering about all those throttle and accelerator positions....

Whoa KC! You got some time... Oops I'm here too. Just ordered one... We'll see... I'll blame it on Evil...
So have to calibrate every time you switch cars huh? Hmmm... not like a GPS... Thought it might just self-calibrate once plugged in to the new environment... Guess I'll find out when I get it...

damns you...I just had to check out this thread, then I just bought one...damn impulse buy...although I'm just buying this to replace my scan gauge II my friend took from me...I couldn't pass up that awesome price.

Why does it not record my farts? Records everything else it seems.
So KC with this gauge when do you have time to look at the road? I kinda place this in the disraction catagory along with cell phones and texting.

Oh my doubtful Canadian friend, it goes over where the other visual aids are_
Farts are always recorded by the wingman - no wingman, no problems_
edit: it will also scroll automatically through three pages of six gauges each at a user defined interval.

Calibration, on the Fit at least, has more to do with the MPG and fuel displays. All the rest come straight off the ECU.
You do need to tell it engine size and fuel tank capacity. Then do a fill up and fuel used input. That should then give accurate MPG numbers.
If my FIT ran with a MAP sensor it would be different, but the MAF simplifies the set-up. pg.30-32 owners manual
I strongly suggest to all printing out the owners manual before installing.

I'm definitely interested in this. I want to monitor the following (not simultaneously), but it's too much of a hassle to figure out a way to mount separate guages:
- Coolant Temp
- Oil Temp *
- Intake Air Temp
- Outside Air Temp
- Voltage
- Timing Advance
(according to their estimator, this feature may no be available through the Fit's ECU, but all other appear to be)*
Can any of you that currently own this product for a GE Fit tell me if you're able to moniitor these stats listed above. Thanks in advance. I do appreciate the feedback!

I'm used to going 10 - 11 miles/ min. across the ground, monitoring every function available. Idiot lights drive me nuts.

I am going to be looking for a place to mount a remote oil temp. sending unit. The first place that struck me was the oil pan drain plug, but I want to see if there are a couple angled fittings that would allow me to maintain the original ground clearance or as much as possible atleast..

Typical oil temps is 30-50 degrees higher than water temps so no real need except in racing and forgot turbo engines even though my truck dont have one. You have 1 chance a day for out side temps with the ultra gauge, the first time you start the car and read IAT. Thats as close to out side temp it will give you.

Good point. I didn't think about that.

be sure to check your UG's firmware version (page 48 on downloadable pdf manual) to keep it current. if yours don't have the latest firmware, contact support as they can update it for you free of charge... you do need to send in your UG tho
