Why you buy the Honda Fit?
I got mine a couple of days ago and I LOVE it!!!
I bought it because I am 6'6" tall and this was one car I could "fit" in and feel like I was in a mid-size car. The room inside is incredible and it is easy to get in and out of - not low to the ground.
Obviously the fuel efficiency is another reason, but mainly the room and how fun it is to drive.
One of the best purchases I have made in a long time!!!

^ I've mentioned before that a girl in our office got one several months ago, and we often take turns driving to lunch when we all go out. My boss is 6'5" (but he also weights upwards of 300 pounds) and he's able to get in and out rather easily and can fit just fine, whereas that is not the case when we take my Evo. Similarly, there's fairly decent legroom behind him, whereas even in my boss's 5-Series, anyone sitting behind him is going to have their knees pressed against their chests.
Hmm because i loved the old civic hatches and reminded me of them and never owned a honda and wanted to try them out. Loved how easy it is to mod and cheap. Love the room in it and the MPG great fun car i want another one right now my wife drives the Fit its AT. I drive the XB which is nice car i love it as well. So maybe i might start to mod that a little here soon

I wanted a small hatchback, I drove all the others including the Rav4 and hated all of them. The Matrix was OK, but had much worse visibility. I'm big on being able to see all around me, especially in a smaller car.
I liked the look of the Fit, I liked the mileage (although I haven't gotten great mileage in town but I drive like a fool too), I LOVED the color (Blackberry Pearl).
I also didn't want to spend a small fortune for a new car. I compromised on the road noise issue, but as far as I can tell, that's simply a Honda feature. The darn thing is so noisy I can hardly stand it, but it's still fun to drive and beautiful when I can get it cleaned. I'm kind of glad they changed the styling b/c there will never be any more of the '08 blackberry pearls than there are now (not many where I am).
I also loved the mods people are doing to their Fits and I covet new rims, I'd drop it if I could, and do other stuff like paint the engine cover.

We do a lot of cross-country driving, and even a trip to the store is twenty miles. I looked at a 2008 Fit and thought it was too austere. No dead pedal, no arm rest, no navi, no VSA. Just a little too cramped. The 2009 fixed all that and gave us a cheap cruiser in which we could visit strange cities and not get lost. Gas prices? Who cares? New tires helped some with road noise. All in all it's a useful and inexpensive (so far) car. We drove 900 miles this week and averaged 36 mpg. I guess that's why we bought it.
Happy trails to you all.

All of the above

I bought my Fit cause my lemon out of warranty VW GTI was giving me too many little problems that I had to get rid of it some how but wanted to keep around the same payments, I got a killer finance deal on the Fit and it seemed to be a comparable car to my needs of a small hatchback. Sad thing is I bought the GTI used for the price that a Fit Sport are new, and was looking at them far before I landed on buying the GTI. I kick myself cause obviously I could have gotten a better deal than losing my butt on throwing money at the VW for nothing.
I bought my fit a few days ago and I am loving it.
I was looking for a car that was fun, but also versatile. I upgraded to a fit from a Mitsubishi Montero so the interior space and configurations were important to me. I often haul my two bullies around town, and having the back seats down work exceptionally well (want to buy the honda pet blanket to combat the hair and slobber however).
I have been taking it easy as far as revs and breaking, but it has been a blast to drive. I have always owned suv's because they 'fit' me best (being 6'4), but in the fit i have more room in the cabin than previous suv's. The milage is a given. I love seeing my numbers in the high 20's and low 30's.

After owning and modding various Lexus's and Audi's, I went back to graduate school and needed cheap transport. I bought a '97 civic ex coupe. Unfortunately, it had a bad (and out of warranty) tranny. Honda stepped up and paid the bill, thus earning Honda bonus points with me.
I've always liked the fit for showing that a cheap car can be safe, reliable, and intelligently designed (small exterior, big & variable inside); while also looking modern and unique.
However, my ownership of my 2011 Fit last month was a complete surprise. I am unbelievably fortunate as mine was a gift.

- I've always wanted a subcompact since I got my license. But a civic was as small as you can get ~2004-ish and I don't like sedans for small cars.
- My friend in England has a Jazz and won't stop posting how fun it is back in 2006, with magic seats etc.
- Finally Honda announced they'd bring the Fit stateside I just screamed "WANT"!
- Graduated college 2007, got my first job
I wanted a new car but don't want to go broke with it.

I really like hatchbacks for their cargo space/functionality/easy to park and clean
It is FUN to drive, already 15K miles NO problem!!!
handling is very good, cool looking hatch if modded properly (cosmetically for me)

Yep! You nailed it!
* The other subcompacts didn't have the cargo space and reliability.
* Crossover SUV's didn't have the gas mileage (and they are not nearly as much fun to drive.)
The Fit was the only car that made my short list.

I was in a need of a new car and had no idea what I wanted or what was affordable under 20k. Was reading the Car Section in a newspaper that had an article on the new Chevy Sonic and I went cool, that is it! Price, sporty, hatchback base price around $14k.
I then did some online researching and discovered the other cars competing in this field- Yaris- Fit - Mazda 2 - Fiesta.
The Fit just stood out in the crowd and the Sport package came with all that I really wanted (except sunroof option) and still well under my self imposed 20K limit. Well one other feature that the Fit does not have that the Sonic has is the hill hold/assist for MT. Would be nice but I've lived without it before.

- Loved the styling of the car.
- Honda reliability
- Handling
- Bang for the buck with affordable Sport pkg.
The Fit is only the second car I've owned. I originally bought it for the practicality, but I started learning more and more about modifying it and getting involved in the import car culture. It's gotten pretty ridiculous and I've taken it further than I ever thought I would, and there's still a way to go. I'm not sure I'll ever be done lol.

My wife and I bought our Fit after considering a Ford Focus. We bought the Fit because of the insane amount of cargo area in such a small car.
When my wife first saw the Fit she said, you won't fit in that car (I'm 6'2"). I just watched her be amazed the whole time we were going over the car at the dealership. She kept commenting about how much room the Fit had and how smart the car was with it's cargo configuration. She put the front driver's seat all the way back and made me sit in the back. I fit in there perfectly fine. We tried this with the Focus and talk about an impossibility and it's not even in the same class of vehicle. You had to take the head rests off the Focus and lift the back bottom seats up to convert to the cargo area. We watched the salesperson struggle with this process. It took two seconds with the Fit and the rear head rests are a thing of intuitive beauty.
I would say Cargo space was the most important factor for us. We travel a bit and have a dog.
After doing research, another factor was how pleased Fit owners were with their overall vehicle experience and judging by this forum that was spot on.
Gas mileage has been great and much, much better than expected. Very pleased.
It has such a great look. Very stylish and it stands out. It's a Honda, so it will be reliable.
And no one does intuitive design better than Honda.

I agree. One of my assistants at work bought a Honda Fit last year, and the boss of the company is 6'5" and weighs around 300 pounds, so he's certainly not small. We'll go out for lunch and take turns driving, and he seems to fit pretty well considering the exterior dimensions of the car itself.
