Can I Get My Deposit Back?
So true.
...Now the only thing I'm worried about is this notorius paint problem
So I called my dealer last night and left a msg letting him know I found my own car and would be withdrawling my deposit if he could not trade. He called me back 5 minutes later to tell me the arrival date of my car had been switched to this wednesday - as opposed to 2 weeks from now. I told him I'd give him a chance but I would be pissed if not here as promised.
He may just trade with the guy at the other dealership (if it's still there) and personally, i don't care. He claims this is the one that was originally coming in from Japan, so I guess only time we'll tell. Either way, I should be getting it this week, so
for me...

your reading it wrong. He said he wonders if its the original one they stated, or if its another one that is already here.
Sorry, poorly worded...JDM is right. I know they are all made in Japan...
...may be a moot point anyway. I'm reading more and more about the paint problem these cars are having at an alarmingly high level. I don't know if I can spend that kind of money on a car that might start peeling after 5 or 10K. Additionally, these cars seem to chip more easily than others.
The Nissan dealership offered me a LIFETIME powertrain warranty for the VERSA - which I know is pretty much an inferior car in most aspects when compared to the Fit...but this paint issue is unacceptable to me.
