Honda to recall nearly 1 mln Fit, other models

TOKYO (Reuters) - Honda Motor Co <7267.T> said on Monday it would recall about 960,000 Fit subcompacts and other models globally to repair defects including malfunctioning power window switches.
No accidents have been reported due to the defects, a Honda spokesman in Tokyo said.
In Japan, the recall covers Fit vehicles produced between October 2005 and October 2009. The subcompacts were also sold overseas, mainly in China and other Asian countries.
The spokesman said the company was not disclosing the cost of the global recall.

Will this extend to Fits made for the USDM? Ours was definitely produced between those two dates, and we've had window issues since early on that several dealers poo-poohed.

I wonder if this is related to the water leakage issue in a previous recall that also affected the window switches. That one was considered a safety issue due to possible fire I believe though.

Perhaps there was more to this issue than just water entry.

It says "global," so I'd assume so.

I read some details - it talked about window cleaners, which indicates to me the water infiltration is from the inside, not the outside, which would make it less worrisome to most... unless you're sloppy when cleaning or have those monkeys at the car wash cleaning the inside windows for you.

So far the US recall doesn't mention the Fit...

Man, I hope we don't have another recall for our 07-08 Fits. I just got done getting the existing 3 taken care of at the dealer.

This was reported on my local TV news today, which made me assume it applies to US vehicles, although they didn't say that...

Whether if this new recall applies to North America, at least this is not as serious as the previous engine springs recall :-)

I'm actually pretty stoked about it and hope that it gets a lot of media attention..... anytime someone refers to a fit as a subcompact that makes me , as long as they ain't calling it a station wagon or a minivan i'm all good

SRS Harness, but it only applies if you live in a salt belt state.
