Unhappy acquired a new '07 fit from my parents

i got an awesome deal on their old car, a 2007 fit

i drove it around for one day and i am in major pain!

am i blind or is there no way to pull the steering wheel OUT (not up or down)? i'm a thin, tall female. i took off the headrest bc it was pushing my head forward uncmfortably, also, my lower back was aching and the steering wheel is very short, so either i have to crush my legs under the wheel or hunch forward.

i'm going to put a bunch of tempurpedic pillows in there for my back. it sucks bc i really want to like this car

any suggestions? i do not see how grown men can drive this thing.

Being that I am an old man and appreciate the female form I have noticed that women generally have longer legs than most men of the same height... I have a 36" inseam and big time arthritis in my neck, back, hips and knees so I also had pain from driving my 2007 Fit... I ordered a pair of long wool seat covers from a retailer on ebay and they have worked well for me by lifting me up and moving me a little closer to the steering wheel allowing me to tilt the seat slightly to distribute some of my weight to the back rest of the seat... As a plus, the long wool allows air to circulate between you and the seat, is cushy but not overly so and wicks away and absorbs moisture... I'm not sure that this would work for you but it has made a huge difference for me..

thank you, this is a good suggestion! im going to look on ebay. i understand i could buy a seat but those are very expensive. or i could put in a civic seat but i don't know of anyone who i'd trust to do that.

i have shoulder injury (both my shoulders) and a connective tissue disorder, lucky me right so i'm extra sensitive to these things but my old honda civic was fine.

I also have a long inseam and get back pain in the Fit, I've found I minimize it by putting the seat nearly straight up, but even that doesn't solve all the problems.

Being long legged and driving most any Japanese car or riding a Japanese motorcycle or Harley-Davidson is going to result in pain.... I recently read of racing type steering wheels with an incorporated air bag made for GM trucks but have yet to see any for anything else.. That would solve comfort problems for most people that are having issues with their seating position in a Fit... There are racing steering wheel adapters that come in varying lengths but the wheels eliminate the air bag so to be safe in event of an accident a harness type seat belt would be needed... That would actually be an improvement over airbags in event of a crash but prove to be very inconvenient when strapping yourself in or getting out of it... Numerous people have used washers as spacers under the front seat mounting bolts to get more support to by displacing some of their weight to their thighs which also gives them a bit more leg room.... Another problem that a lot of us have had is due to the very light throttle pedal tension that requires you to not be able to relax the ball of your foot on the pedal. polaski came up with a great fix for that problem and should be inducted into the FitFreak hall of fame if one existed. Here is a link on how to fix it... https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...olaski...Doing the throttle fix and using the long wool seat covers has made a huge difference for me..Just being raised a little higher up and having my upper body positioned a little more forward and being able to relax my right foot on the pedal has allowed me to be more relaxed all over..

thank you, i will look at those threads.

i noticed the brake pedal too! i assumed i just wasn't used to "new cars" being extra sensitive and whatnot, im glad its a more common complaint.
