Some question while I endure "the wait"
Some question while I endure "the wait"
Still got an estimated 4 weeks wait (put deposit down 2 1/2 weeks ago) for my Sport M/T. Just a few questions about some "small" details about the car that are not easily found on Honda's website and won't be found in any reviews. These are very minor things, but I like to know the details, and these little day-to-day issues are important to me!
1) The remote entry/security system. Does it "beep" when you arm it, and if so, can you disable the audible alert? I really hate alarms that do the "beep"/"beep-beep" thing. I always feel like I'm waking up the neighbors when I get home at night or leave early in the morning!
2) Are the remote entry buttons built into the ignition key or is it a separate fob? On my Scion, the buttons are built into the key, and I find this to be incredibly convenient and practical, though a lot of people wonder how I manage not to lose my key! (I keep all my other keys on a separate ring, so I don't have a messload of metal dangling from the ignition switch).
3) How satisfied are you with the headlights? Are they bright or dim? Bright headlights make a world of difference to me.
4) Do you find the rear-center headrest blocking your rearward vision? For some reason i forgot to check this on my test drive.
I suppose I'll find out all these things on my own once the time comes, but I figure I can find all these answers while I wait for the Fit's arrival!
By the way, I just went over to Honda's USA webpage, and the homepage showed what I assume is a VBP Fit, but it looked much darker than the true VBP color. It would be awesome if Honda came out with a dark blue Fit. But, I'm liking all the colors, so as soon as my dealer tells me a M/T Sport is on it's way in, I'm going to take it (my order has Silver as the #1 preference).
Hey, I just realized, if I do get the Silver, my last 3 cars will all be "SSM" colors!
2001 Mazda Protege - SSM= Sunlight Silver Metallic
2005 Scion tC - SSM= Silver Streak Mica
2007 Honda Fit - SSM = Storm Silver Metallic
YES I LOVE SILVER!!!

Good questions and congrats on getting a Fit!
1) Remote entry: press once locks all doors and the hatch. No audible horn unless you press twice "just to make sure."
2) Built in to the ignition key - you get two at delivery.
3) Not as bright as they should be, some have reported the aim to be off.
4) No the center does not block vision, but the left and right do. I removed them since 99% of the time I do not have rear passengers.
Hope this helps!

Marty,
Thanks for the info! After a few sleepless nights wrestling over my decision, I decided to cancel my order for the Fit. Reasons were numerous, and none had to do with any kind of dislikes with the Fit, but rather, I decided to keep my current car. After shopping it around and getting private party/trade-in offers, it just wouldn't make financial sense to switch at this point. I really do love the Fit, and it will be something I'll consider getting in a couple of years, when hopefully one can be snagged for under MSRP and without the wait.
So, I've spent the past couple of weeks really thinking about all this, and since I had my deposit down and time to wait, I figured I had time to finally make up my mind. But flip-flopping back and forth is really bothering me, so I made my choice to keep my car and I'm sticking to that and moving on.
Great forum you guys got going here. Hopefully I'll be back in a few years!
