I didn't really think about Recaro's cause of the price, I would've been happy with cooled seats alone. After driving a Lexus with them I knew I had to have that feature especially in NYC summer heat/humidity, and the AC not being as powerful. I was looking into aftermarket units which require hacking up the existing seats to install cooling fans, etc. But then seeing Chad's thread.... anything less than Recaro cooled seats just won't do now...
It's going to take me a while to save that kind of $$$$.

But it's great to see others with some "dream mods" actually making them reality and enjoying them.

Yeah you guys deal with that heatwave for like 4+ months... We only have it for 1-2 months intensely. But we also get some freezing winter wind chills, and snow to deal with, last winter we got hit hard with snow (shut down the city )... Best of both worlds

So I guess more reasons to get the Recaro's.

Darnit Soob, you sure know how to brighten someone's day! I do have a dog and his color is guess what?
Well, this one you might remember. An old beat-up Yakima rack that I got at a yard sale and "tried" to spruce it up with some vinyl. One of my most appreciated projects.

This thread was not intended just for me....so I'm hoping some others will pitch in with some of their mods..

So I saw your "To Do" list Jamy. I take it you're not sending the Fit to pasture anymore...

I found me a nice little 700cc speed satisfier

The fit shall stay with me for the foreseeable future. I have a few plans of what to do to it to make it really unique. I'm still waiting to hear back from vinny on some advice for a custom project I want to do.

Hey Chad,

did you do the install? also did it mess with the air bag system?

Punisher, here's Chad's DIY thread ---> https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ll-begins.html
Chad used a resistor to not get a warning light. Very informative DIY, it's a must read.

From my own research after reading his DIY, I found that Recaro makes a similiar seat with the Airbag built in, but it's ofcourse more expensive.

Damn...., if I ever get that Recaro it's going to wind up costing me 25% or more of what I paid for my GE8 w/Navi !!! Cause I'd want to get the airbag, and then gotta get the black leather w/red stitching to match my existing Clazzio's & interior theme I got going on.

Thanks you beat me to it. You either got a great deal on your Fit or your looking at a super expensive recaro. Mine only cost me $1500 total with rails, sliders etc. which is about 10% of the cost of my base Fit. Sometimes I do wish I would have spent another $300 for leather bolsters.

Well worth it IMO especially on these cold mornings when the heat kicks in. Thanks for all the compliments guys.

Punisher. I eliminated my driver's side seat airbag with the new seat. All I had to do is jump a 2 ohm fuse across the airbag plug for the seat. You also have to remove a posistion sensor from the OEM seat and just leave it plugged in underneath. I've had no problem with the airbag light coming on since the install.

Passenger side is much more complicated and I'd feel weird about removing somebody else's airbag so that side will remain stock.

Really expensive Recaro's....
Was looking at the Ergomed w/Climate & SAB (Side airbag) plus Leather... Found this site from the UK ---> RECARO Ergomed E (with/without Airbag). just for reference from £1,730.00 - £2,370.00 w/ an exchange rate of ~$1.60-1£ = about $2800-$3800. Ofcourse I was just using that site as a reference (pricing & seat choices), with all the options available its a confusing array of choices. So maybe 15-20% of total. ... correction.

I'd like the power features & adjustable supports, and have to have the climate feature (especially the cooling fan), and still keep the airbag feature, but then I still have to match it to the rest of the interior theme (black leather w/red stitching). Definitely have to speak to a salesperson to narrow down the right seat, if I ever save up that kind of $$$$.

I keep thinking of this holiday trip I'm going on this winter about 3,000 miles roundtrip and wishing I had the Recaros...

Bent my rim yesterday, ran over a metal object on the freeway that some irresponsible truck driver did not properly secure. And yes, he was nowhere to be found.
So, I had to go back to chrome. The good thing is I went a lower with these 17-7's 205/40 t38 with no rub'n Re-doing other set in Black-chrome. Couple pix after leaving the shop..
