this is for hardcore racers only, you have to register and to get parts you have to prove you have official track time!
it will get bigger as the b-spec class takes off next season

i'm not competeing against them, they are just on the track at the same time, it takes a real fast car to pass you more than once in a 20 minute session

googled it and found this real quick -> If you want to go racing on a modest budget, one of the most-affordable series in motorsports is called B-Spec. Sanctioned by the SCCA, Grand Am, NASA and World Challenge, B-Spec puts drivers in compact, production-based cars that have a very similar performance baseline.

Joining cars such as the Ford Fiesta, the Honda Fit, the Mazda2, the Toyota Yaris and the Kia Rio, and the MINI Cooper B-Spec race car

here is a cool link : The 25 Hours of Thunderhill in the B-spec Mazda 2 and Honda Fit - Car and Driver - YouTube

just google Bspec you'll find a bunch of stuff

that is beyond sick! i would definitely try to get in on that... seems like you would have to have some decent driving skills to set yourself apart from the pack

I've actually talked to HPD about Fit parts, and they said they would be available this Fall. Sent them an email last month and no reply

I mimicked my suspension setup based on the Bspec 25hr of Thunderhill car. I waited for Grassroots Motorsports to confirm in an article what coilovers the HPD car was using before i bought my Bilsteins

I've considered signing up anyways to show parts interest, and it's not like i need my warranty since i'm a tech. Parts are cheap without labor cost

Edit: The Fiat 500 has also debuted in Bspec guise! Sadly, it adorned a Mopar sticker in the window

I don't trust Fiat's reliability... otherwise i'd sign for an Abarth once pre-orders can be taken! I'd be afraid it'd turn out to be another Mini as far as mechanically disastrous Man o man have i seen some shit with Minis (new ones nonetheless)

The shop i work at only specializes in euro cars... MB, BMW, Mini, Jag, Landrover, Bentley, Audi, VW, Porsche... and they're all horribly broken. VW/Audi is the worst... but Mini is close. BMW has too much crap packed in their cars. MB is just plain boring cars and have their fair share of "oops" engineering. Jag is notoriously britsh... so it's notoriously shoddy build quality and hodge-podge bits from FoMoCo.

Japanese brands (Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan) are the only ones that come in for service and all they need is maintenance stuff or the occasional wheel bearing We hardly make money off them.

In addition to that, you're going to have to strip your car to the bone, add full competition cage, safety equipment, fire safety equipment.

This isn't Joe Schmoe with a daily Fit taking out his spare tire and rear seats for the weekend, you'll have to do a lot to run in B-Spec, so if you plan on using your car for day to day stuff, forget about it and just run your local HPDE events.

Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know what's really going on.

Please don't take out the back seats. I know this from experience. The Fit doesn't spin when you leave that weight over the back axle
Makes it too damn tail-happy and jittery in transitions.

Personally, when I go for spirited driving, I just fold the back seats down to lower COG, idk if it makes any difference LOL

I figured what you say would be true

You probably don't need to worry about snow in 'Bama, but a friend who has a Mini says it handles terribly in snow.

I have the same strategy with lower COG

Brought home another class win today after getting bumped in STS. 2nd place was 3 seconds off my time (a regular in a Miata).

Last autocross of the season is tomorrowwwww
