Paint Peeling from Front Bumper
As for how to bring it up, just tell them your situation (preferably without kicking and screaming). The service manager at the dealership I went to took one look and realized it was a problem and got me a rental right away. But when I went there, I just wrote down the link to this thread and printed out pictures of other FitFreaks' bumper peeling in case they were unwilling to fix it. Make sure to print out pictures of other Fits in different colors so they know it isn't just pictures of your own car.
i got an orange fit about 6 months ago, brand new. i noticed paint chipping about a week after i got the car and boy was i pissed. i brought it back to the dealer ship and talked to a service manager. he said that i needed to make an appointment with someone from honda. since then, ive been stopping by the dealership once a month and the guy keeps telling me they havent come yet and he'll call me when they do. the last time i talked to a normal service rep because a manager wasnt there. i got a call back from her in a week and schedualed an appointment. they would only touch up the paint and did a really bad job in doing so. they only touched up the biggest chip but theres about 4 more between the 2 sides. im going back and printing out some of these posts for em.

i didnt know it was a common problem unitll just yesterday when i came across this site. i didnt think for a second it was common. they refused to repaint the bumper and did a touch up a 5 year old could have done. i like the car a lot but i just wish i bought it elsewhere. theyve been giving me the run around for months, and they finally do something about it and dont fully fix the problem. dont buy from garden state honda in new jersey.
Try to get your problem escalated to a service manager. They have the authority to order more complicated repairs.
Also, print out the first page of this Honda ServiceNews bulletin. Bring it with you to prove that you know what they are supposed to do about the issue. They are supposed to do more than dab on some touch-up paint. Some people here got their bumpers fully repainted. My bumpers had just the affected spots sanded, repainted, and blended in so you can't tell those spots were touched up. Everyone should be getting 5mm spacers to keep it from happening again.
This issue was big when the '07 Fits began seeing it, but it's possible your dealer has forgotten about it. Ask to see a manager in person and show him/her the bulletin.

Horrible paint!
I've had my '08 Fit Sport for 10 months and 7.3k miles. I've never seen worse paint on a new vehicle! I've got the Vivid Blue Pearl Paint and even the slightest contact with road debris will chip the paint. I washed my car recently and found 20+ chips in the hood. It seems that the factory only applied a minimal amount of paint layers, unlike Mercedes who applies 7 coats of paint to prevent this from happening. I got door-dinged in a parking lot by an old man in a Cadillac while I was sitting in the car. I figured "not a huge deal, it wasn't a big impact". I checked the paint when I got home and there was a small dent (!) in the rear passenger fender and chipped paint. With a slight contact like that, there shouldn't be much of a paint chip, much less a dent! This is the worst paint that I've seen on any new (or old) car. I wish I would have gotten the ClearBra protector over the hood and fenders. I also noticed recently where the dealership attached the license plates had holes in the front bumper. They must have used bolts that were way too long and damaged the paint. I haven't been bothered by it enough to have it repaired straight away, but will try to have it repaired during the next service (50% oil life left at 7.4k miles).
i bought a used fit, had a previous accident. the bumper was fix but it wasn't painted but i'm disappointed the fact that they have very thin paint. it scratches so easy. it seems to me that the honda civic had a better paint.
Small update:
So, I noticed the paint was peeling AGAIN! -____-
The back bumper is fine, it's just the front bumper rubbing against the fender. I'm not too sure if I want to take it back to the dealership though because they might just blame it on the fact that the car is lowered, and I might have hit something or something like that. I'll probably see if I can either take it to a shop on my own or try to fix it myself with some sanding, touch up, etc (with practice on a random piece of fender I have first LOL)

My paint is peeling on my 09's bumper. They tried to give me some bull- about how it must be that I hit something. (Car is less than 90 days old, and accident-free.)
I'm dealing with the dealership, and they're giving me all kinds of hell about how it's not covered under waranty.

Yikes, this disappoints me with Honda and all. Sorry you guys are having these problems.
I guess I've been lucky in some ways.
I haven't had any paint peeling problems but back when I initially purchased my Fit, someone put a small ding & paint chip over the right front fender and I had to get the dealer to touch it up. You can still see a hint of it. That happened in transit having the leather installed, before I even took possession.
Then couple of months ago some old fool backed into on my front bumper clip which had to be completely repaired/repainted etc. They said they used the best high grade auto paint on the market when they repaired it, so hopefully I won't experience the peeling paint problems you guys are having there.
Fingers crossed.

Do you have documentation? The dealership would wind up replacing the whole car by the time I got done with them.
This happened to my 09 Fit I bought back in April. Both sides, right where the fender meets the bumper. I took it to the dealer and they repainted it over the weekend for free under warranty. All better now!
So, I just took delivery of a 2009 sport in Blue. This is the 2nd gen model... I am unclear, but it seems from the recent postings on this thread that the peeling issue at the bumper is *also* an issue on the 09 Fits?
If this is the case, are you all recommending to add the plastic washers ourselves as a preventative measure? I'm all for it if it will keep the paint lasting longer at those spots... it makes me sick just to look at (and read) what you guys are going through.

I've got this problem too - purchased mine back in Feb. Is it really worth the hassle of getting it repainted, etc? I've washed my car 3 times since I've owned it (1 by the dealer during the first service) - maybe when I bring it in for the next service I'll have them add the washers and touch up the corner, thanks for the TSB!
