Hi everyone, been lurking for a while but this is my first actual post. Tried to find an answer in the posted threads but did not quite find it.

I want to buy winter rims and tires for my 09 Sport Fit but am being held back for lack of answers to the following questions:

1) Rim type: I read many posts here suggesting that corrosion is worse on alloy rims than it is on steel rims. That seems odd to me. Can anyone offer an explanation, since so far I am assuming that the OEM alloys are more resistant to corrosion/salt damage than steel rims?

2) Ideal Dimension: A lot of people recommend 15" wheels for winter instead of the Sport's original 16". Can you confirm this is indeed a good choice and also suggest good tire dimensions?

Finally, can any fellow Canadian share recent purchase tips (I live in Oakville). Thanks!
