oh it was? hahaha!

the lamp needs to light up red though. bright red to be effective in dense fog. ive only had to use it twice through 3yrs of owning the car, but it is definitely a good thing to have as insurance.

i was caravaning with some buddies of mine and they said they could not see the car driving next to me in dense fog, but they could clearly see my rear fog lamp.

Got tired of getting zapped so had 'um on my old Corolla a while back and kept getting flagged down by other drivers shouting "there's something hanging on your tail"....

hahaha, yah. i get static here in my neck of the northern woods in the winter too, so what i do is either keep my gloves on, or hold the metal door while i step out.

then i dont get zapped.

it is a pretty dangerous thing though when you're refueling. this is why most gas covers are plastic so you dont get static sparking gas fumes.

Ooooooh! You just pushed my peeve about refueling... Statis is only one angle... Don't know how many are aware of cell phones/FRS/walkie talkies as well are as much a danger when refueling...

I was looking at a rear fog light when I was thinking of getting a center exhaust for my Miata to fill in the hole where the existing exhaust exists.

Cell phones don't generate any appreciable amount of static electricity. If they did, you'd get a shock every time you picked one up off of a wooden table or whatever. Rubbing your clothes against a car seat while reaching in to grab a cell phone certainly can build up a static charge, however, and this (or something similar) is what you're probably seeing sparks from.

If you really want to see static electric sparks, go to the Boston Science Museum.
