browsing the honda japan site more specificaly the 2013 13G fit, i came across these items the key is awesome and was wondering if its just a cool key fob or something better like keyless entry or start. the next picture shows something labeled ETC. i need to learn japanese already but for now maybe someone can help me out

thanks in advance

Thank you both. I should maybe not look at the japanese site as I can't read it
is the keyless entry/start a honda access part I only see I listed with the 13G. The toll collector resembles the old locktronics security systems that wouldn't start without a chip inserted in it. Thanks again

Kenchan thank you. It just hit me that probably copying and pasting the script would work. I could not figure out how I would type kanji characters into a search bar even if I understood what I was typing.
yep, that should work just fine. if not, switch to www.google.co.jp and it should be able to take the japanese fonts.
That's the whole smart key system they're trying to advertise. It's been discussed on here before, I even contacted a seller, but he could only get the key, there's not a very feasible way to install it in ours.
That said, with enough money, patience and ingenuity, anything can be done.

The Smartkey is not really a Honda Access part, it's just an option. I ordered it with my RS when I purchased it. The ETC is pretty much a standard item now on most new cars, at least in the Honda stable. The electronic chip inside is registered with the Government, it basically lets the toll booth know what car is passing through based on engine displacement, size and what have you. Before the built-in ETC, you could and actually still can purchase a stand-alone device, that also must be registered, but it could move from car to car. Though if you have one registered for a kei car and then put it in a non-kei car, you would only get charged at kei rates on the expressway, but the car has its picture taken as it goes through the toll gates. Not worth saving a few yennies as if caught you will be paying a metric ton more yennies for trying to get over.
Thankfully one of my Japanese co-workers got an ETC card in his name for me and I just pay him the monthly bill. One needs a Japanese bank account to acquire a card or pay like an upfront cost of $500~800 or so for a pre-paid card and still deal with a bunch of paperwork. Any ETC card will work in any ETC device, so not wise to leave the card in the reader (read what you just wrote (yes talking to myself)) as somebody could just break-in and snatch it. Though crime of that nature is not really prevalent here in Japan, got to love that about Nippon.

Thanks 555 I did some looking around after I was told its a smartkey system. I see it seems to be factory option on certain trims. We have toll paying devices here in the states but it looks nothing like this. I'm convinced and have been since I was a young boy EVERYTHING is better in japan
