Upper glove box

Does anyone notice that the upper glove box gets warm with the heat turned on? On the way into work this morning I had my ipod plugged in and stored in there. It was a bit cold so I had the heat turned on with the vent set to blow out onto my feet. By the time I got to work and took the ipod out, I noticed that that compartment got pretty warm as if the heat was blowing straight into that compartment. Is this something everyone else is seeing? I thought it was strange since i had the fan on the lowest setting and it was blowing into the footwell.

my old ipod used to get hot too, and sometimes my android phone gets hot. could it be your ipod and not your vent?

no, i put my hand in there and without even touching the ipod yet I felt the whole compartment was very warm. the inside walls of the compartment were warm to the touch.

The UK GE8 routes the vent thru the top compartment to act as a drink cooler... The USDM GE8 doesn't have that option, I think it's one of the reasons mentioned above, maybe the filter location?

Not sure with the heater but in the summer it would overheat my MP3 player which would not play until it cooled down.

It would still vent thru the top even though the setting is to vent to the feet?

I'll check the cabin filter though. thanks.

a ) The blower is behind the lower glove box, hence the air filter. Either the incoming or outgoing air will have to pass by the upper glove box.

b) No matter which vent mode you choose, some air will come out of the front side vents.

Mode Control Dial
Use the mode control dial to select
the vents the air flows from. Some air
will flow from the dashboard corner
vents in all modes.

Ok, thanks I see it now. On the drive home I used the same settings and did not plug in the ipod to rule out the ipod itself was not warming it up. Got home, checked and it was still warm but more towards the passenger window and seems to match up what you're saying about the side vents. The side vents being the round ones with the little drink holder underneath. Guess I'll have to keep the ipod in another location. Strangely during summer when I had the AC going that box was mostly cool, probably due to the same reason. Thanks all for the replies, learnt something new today.

I live in Massachusetts so it gets cold here. I will start checking the upper glove box for heat and post again in a few days.
By the way, what is an Ipod?

Just to be clear on the UK version there is a vent that routes air straight in to the upper glove box they call it the "refrigerated" upper glove box... can't find the link to the threads.

I drove my 2012 Fit Sport today with the heat on blowing at my feet and after about a half hour I pulled over and checked the upper glove box and it was not hot at all and there was no air blowing into it.
