First Post Here! (Couple Questions)
Hello everyone! This is a cool website. I have heard about it but decided to check it out for the first time.
Background - I'm 24, live in California, and I have a silver 2009 Honda Fit Sport w/ manual transmission. Here are my questions:
1) Has anyone had the air conditioning go out? I figured being only a couple years old and with Honda's reliability I wouldn't have this issue. Granted i'm not complaining because the car runs great but my air conditioning has been out for a year. With summer approaching I'm going to have to get it fixed soon and I was curious if I should expect a costly repair based on anyone else's experiences. The air conditioning green light still works but the air just doesn't get very cool. Sometimes white particles fly out of my vents as well on high settings.
2) Anyone recommend any basic accessories or cool additions? For example I'm thinking of grabbing this leather shift knob

the A/C could be lots of things....from a simple freon fill to a leak in the system which requires evacuation etc...or ur compressor could have died, blew a hose, etc. Most diehard A/C guys will tell u to avoid the cheapo refill cans at autozone. they are not purely r-134 and usually have additives for leaks. plus u may over or under fill and may need moisture evacuated from system...the list goes on. take it to an A/C specialist and hope for the best!
I'd bet a nickel that you're just low on freon....but next time dont wait!! A/C systems should be run from time to time to protect seals, keep parts working etc. Letting it sit unused for a year may have caused more problems.
as for modding, keep ur $$ till u get some estimates on the A/C (lol) but check out the top 10 or first 10 mods thread in the GE section. plenty to get u going

Welcome to FF, AZ_HondaFamily covered off on the A/C issue very well so all I will add is for mods its all up to how far you want to take the car.
Things like a dead pedal, armrest, different shift knob are all thing that can make the car more enjoyible for everyday use and will not break the bank.

Many owners have installed gutter guard under their front bumper to avoid rocks and stones being thrown up into the front of the car and damaging the air conditioning condenser. That was going to be my first suggestion, but it already might be too late for your air conditioning system. Perhaps if you get it repaired, you might consider doing this cheap mod, that will help prevent against damage in the future.
I've ordered a set of Clazzio seats, many people on this forum rave about them. Also if you want a center armrest console, Zeta products sells one that's not too expensive and easy to install.
