newbie- question about battery in spare key

Hello. I just got a new Fit Sport (it now has a big 63 miles on it!). I got 2 identical keys with it. The key is also a remote, so it obviously contains a battery. My question: since I will not be using the "spare" key, should I remove the battery? I am worried that if the key sits unused in a drawer for say 2 years, the battery may leak. On the other hand, it's easier to leave it as is. Any thoughts?

just flip it over or put some tape on the contacts. If you remove it you will lose it.

OK, thanks for the feedback, folks. Sounds like it should be alright as is. This is the first car I've had with a remote, so it is taking some getting used to. VERY please with it so far (all 63 miles! )
