Automatic smart phone driving assistant

I just pre-ordered a niffty little device called Automatic. It is something that you plug into your OBD2 port and it connects your cars computer to your smart phone. While it's connected it tracks your mpg, miles traveled, trip timeline, and gives your driving scores and feedback to drive better. One of the coolest functions, though it is in beta, is that it can call for help automatically if you are in an accident. OH! Another cool feature is that it can read check engine lights, give you the code, and give you an idea of what may be causing it. Unfortunately I won't have mine in hand until some time in July so it will be a long time until I can review it. Check it out for yourself.

Nice find! Thanks for the info. I would pre-order now except that my smart phone isn't on the "supported" list. Maybe they will include it in the future. The price is very reasonable for the services that are provided.

Not bad, sort of a third party adapter solution for all of the smart phone connected vehicles that are coming out (GM and Hyundai are 2 that come to mind).

assistant

I almost ordered one myself, but then I found out it only supports iPhone 4s and 5. I have a 4 :-(

Interested to see how it performs.
