When I take my key out of the ignition sometimes, it is hot. Not hot where I will burn myself, but it is hot to the touch. I've never experinced this with other cars before. Any ideas if this is normal?

 

Our key gets hot also. I am also curious why it does that.

 

I believe the coded key is some sort of RFID, which could probably warm up if it's in range of the tranceiver. Or some circuitry in the dash/steering column is warming up, and warms up the key cylinder.

I wouldn't worry about it.
