Hot (or warm) Key?
Hot (or warm) Key?
I have noticed that my Sport AT ignition key sometimes gets very warm - almost hot after driving for a half hour or more. I have not been able to detect a pattern like A/C use, lights on or off, driving speed. Does it happen to anybody else?
actually if you feel on the right hand side of the steelwheel on the top, it feels warm, but on the left its not warm at all.. i was drivin for like 20mins and i notcied that.. anybody else notice it?
I believe the key uses some sort of RFID for security. Leaving an RFID device in the field of a transceiver could probably make it warm up.
Could be other electronics in the steering column close to the ignition cylinder warming up, that then transfer heat through the key via conduction.
Not a big deal, not a problem. Don't worry about it.
