Pre-production 2014 Honda Fit Spotted in SoCal

I think the current generation looks more streamlined and modern. The new one looks dated - like an old insight, which was a poor seller.
The fit is very round and tall, there isn't much aethetics in it. The proportions are that of an overweight mouse that is about to burst.
Those cut outs in the bumbers are hideous... style over function? Not even stylish to my taste.
The really good looking cars are made by renault, peugeot, seat, fiat. I just came back from europe and realized how many beautiful cars we are missing here. Alf Romeo is another looker.

I like Honda's other car.

I never understood the fascination with this low profile Wilson no gap between the fender any decent bumand your fender will get damaged and tired blown. Safety and reliabilty is the reason it's designed with that gap.

It's just the current style, I would also not personally do it to and of my cars since I wouldn't want to damage them but to each their own

here is the honda page to give you an idea of storage, I can take a pic of some measurements in a book if you are really keen. but overall 5cm longer, longer wheel base, much better rear passenger room and storage room, most models are faster and better economy.

Thanks for the pictures. I think that we wouldn't get the options that you get in Japan. We will probably get the Sport and base again. I know there is more cargo room, better mileage and more horsepower. I was wonder if more horsepower equates to better performance or if the weight has increase to offset this.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

We are not getting the Hybrid they announced that. The reduce weight is a great thing the GE is already light and takes off pretty good in manual form (I only drove a automatic on a test drive) so I would expect a better performance with the increase power. I now would like to see some reviews. Thanks again.

The Prius in the US is hybrid right? I though that sold like crazy there?
I think the RS would be great in manual, curse the misses for being auto only (>_<)

I do not understand the Hybrid decision the Insight was never a big seller. The Prius sells great here You would think handling and storage the Fit would be strong competition and increase the fit's overall market share.

I just realised the Fit is being made in Mexico for the US market isnt it? high chance they arent going to set the facility up with the ability to make hybrids to keep costs down which would explain why they arent offering it at all.

I was hoping that Honda would follow Mazda when it released the Mazda3 first importing the initial ones from Japan prior to switching to Mexico. If Honda did this I would really consider buying one upon release in the USA. But with a new plant you would prefer to wait at least a year to see if there are any issues.

I agree. The CRV-ish reflectors and side body lines do not do it for me either.

In a way I'm glad it's not my cup of tea as there is no big temptation for me to sell my current Fit for the new model!

Update, I went to the LA Auto Show and talked to several people in the Honda booth and they were completely clueless about anything related to the next Fit
My personal opinion is that it will appear sometime in 2014, maybe at the Detroit Auto Show in January?
