I had a feeling this car would look good once some modding was done to it....I am a bit concerned with the dash cluster and the rear bumper....never was a fan for plastic ports serving no purpose.

I would have been sweet if honda were to put dual exhaust on the fit sport....

Though I want a slightly wider car and have been looking at other hatches, I'll keep driving my GE8 until I can sit in the new one.

the CVT in the RS is only 2000rpm at 100kph or ~2400rpm at 120kph so seems to sit the revs right down for cruising.
Wow, that's a lot better than I was expecting! Thanks for the reply!

I think in person while the styling is similar its too tiny to ever confuse with a volvo and looks taller/thinner.

not super keen on the Lamborghini style want to be vents either...

already some manufacturers are doing aftermarket kits for it (not sure if I like them though)

Ive wanted to get the mugen muffler for it but cant quite justify the price they are asking (~$750USD for the end muffler only!) so am going to wait until some other aftermarket systems come out and think about an aftermarket exhaust again then.

That Noblesse kit actually looks pretty damn good. Not feeling the grill part though. And regarding that Mugen axle back, the price is not bad. I've the Mugen GD axle back go for more than $1000. >_>

actually I lied, the CVT is 1070kg, the 6 speed manual is 1050kg

They have been making a big deal about the chassis supposed to be stiffer and lighter.

not sure if you can make much sense of the data here, but here is a link anyway.

I'm a fan of the new fit, and honda in general, but am NOT a fan of their exeution over the past 5-6 years....they have made it hard for the community that built them up (modders) in the wake of the German influx we've been having here in the US.

Modders are still driving around in old civic hatchbacks and I know if they went back to old school honda, at least for the fit, they would regain market share and image!

Totally agree, same deal in Japan with most honda enthusiasts running old civics or s2000s. I would have gladly sacrificed loads of economy for extra power but Japanese seem to be crazy about MPG now.

that said Im not a honda or fit man at all, I needed a compact 4 door (5 number size which means 1695mm wide) for a daily and the Fit RS was the most powerful compact 4 door on the Japan market (along side the Suzuki Swift with 136) all other manufacturers are on ~100hp. I think that is pretty sad, I guess ~130 is enough for a daily.

I was seriously considering going a Polo Gti but two main things turned me off,

1. initial price was almost double the fit.

2. aftermarket parts are far more scarce and expensive.

Everyone is going for high MPG/ Going green. Even the new GT-R is going to be a Hybrid...

ok list of small things that bug me about the fit is slowly growing, still very happy with it by the way but thought you guys might like to hear my small complaints.

1. As Ive already said the injector noise is annoying, but the car is so quiet its not that big of a deal.

2. Idle stop resetting to "on" every time the ignition is turned off (car parked and stopped) is annoying. Id love to set it to off and it stay off permanently rather than it being part of the start up procedure.

3. seems to be tied into the above complaint but the Honda Navi/Media player seems to be very suceptable to slight voltage variances, it will crash the video of a MP4 file sometimes when it starts back up from an idle stop. *Ive fitted an aftermarket harness to it so it thinks the hand brake is always up so will play video while moving, so maybe there is some sort of conflict with the idle start, hand brake bypass setup so Im not 100% sure that is Hondas fault on that one.... still only happens about 1 in 30 or so times so seems like a querky fault.

4. would have loved the idle stop to have a manual setting, so could idle off when I wanted to, instead it leaves the car idling in a drive through maccers run or heavy traffic for 5 mins but will idle off as you pull up to reverse into a car park. Seems like a very half arsed system. I think you guys in the US should be happy you arent getting this "feature"

5. brakes are very sensitive with only the very top of the pedal coming on with quite heavy braking very quickly... maybe I just need more time driving it but after a week or two Im still finding Im hitting the brakes to hard when wanting to come to a gentle stop.

6. not cold enough in Osaka but have heard from Hokkaido that the recessed front windscreen collects snow on the A pillar and can stall the wipers! I havent seen this in person but would seem like a pretty huge flaw if some heavy snow could do that?

7. slightly rattly trim over bumps etc, this is probably partly cause of the stiffer ride from the coil overs and also cause the car is so damn quiet you notice every small sound, still little annoying on a car with only 500kms on it.

thats it for now with the complaints, it does have a few nice little surprises (not sure if the older fit had them)

ie. raining wipers on, if you shift into reverse it will start the rear wiper automatically for you.

auto brake system seems to work, not that in 20+ years of driving Ive ever ran up the back of someone but its nice to have a safety net if you are half asleep or something, *alarm went off as a bicycle road head on towards us when the misses was driving, didnt fire up the brakes but doesnt seem to introsive.

CVT is lightening quick on gear changes, Im used to autos which are painfully slow on shifts, taking up to what feels like a full second between your shift and the gearbox actually doing it, Current CVT is very fast and while no manual is quite fun on the paddles.

Doesn't the windshield have the wiper warmer to melt any snow/ice? I know my GE came with that. Where around Osaka are you? Next time I head over to visit J's or hit up Suzuka, maybe we can meet up, even though this is wifey's car and you are not into Hondas.

The car is nice looking, but I still can't let go that Honda went all Toyboat on the doors. The Mugen visors definitely help, but then the rear quarter window is not aligned and it looks kind of goofy (to me). Overall, the new Fit is nice, all I would want out of it though are the engine and mission to replace what the GE came with. Also too bad you had to get the CVT model, these cars are so much more fun to drive with a real tranny.

there is winter spec packs on the fits you can get so Im not sure, but its what others on Japanese forums have been complaining about. possibly over night and heavy snow build up?? I dont know much about snow as Im originally from Aus and live in Osaka where there is very little snow.

Im in Sakai City so about 40 mins south from Namba.

Im here cause I love cars, my main passion is drifting so I do a lot of track/mountain stuff but nothing in hondas, I already have 2 track cars so that semi lets the Fit off the hook with having to be "fun to drive" but I agree Im a little sad it doesnt have the 6 speed.

as far as styling I think its actually taller than the GE8 which makes it look a lot more minivan like and more goofy than any issue with the door line (which I do agree with you about), although I guess higher roof means more room inside.

straying off topic a little but as Ive pretty much finished with mods to the Fit there probably wont be many more updates anyway

s13 (main car)

s14 (back up car and hills car)

video that did the rounds 8 or so years ago that I was most well known for.

*original link was taken down after police started prosecuting on you tube vids but copies keep popping up every once in a while.

not sure if this facebook link will work?

Crazy, I used to have a lot of customers from Australia that would purchase JDM parts from me and always mention Streeter. Small world after all.

Sakai? Nice. A good friend of mine lives in Sakai and we hit up Maishima Infinity Circuit all the time for some kart racing, while watching whatever track-day is going on next door.
