Anyone living near Mexico ever seen a "jdm" fit?
Anyone living near Mexico ever seen a "jdm" fit?
Just wondering cause the Mexican fits are basically jdm spec in LHD. Do they ever cross the border, or are they even allowed into the states?
If I lived down there, I'd be curious to drive down and check out the shorter Mexican fits.
And for those that want the jdm conversion so bad, wouldn't it be possible to import a brand new fit from there?

They're allowed to cross over, but I've never seen one in person. I've thought about going down there to order parts for the conversion, but at this point not really wanting to. Kind of happy with my current front.
If anything I just want the JDM rear as it sits closer to the rear tire.
I wish they had the RS model down there, I would pick up the rear beam with disc brakes real quick.

Yeah, I like the usdm front better than the stock jdm front. But say if someone really wanted a noblesse fit or other Japanese kit.
Just wondering if it's possible to import one of these new, then one could just skip the whole conversion process (and probably save money too lol).

A few of the SoCal members have spotted Mexican Fits. Not sure of which variations they have there, but the Mexican GE8's have rear disks. Wafulz I believe priced out the parts, and it's ridiculous... unless you can find a rear arm in a Mexican junk yard.
Other options are scanning yahoo auctions for used items, there's a company posted in the rakuten thread that will bid & buy & ship the item to you in case the seller doesn't ship direct that's quite affordable for that type of service.
Noblesse.... drooools..... want that rear kit bad.

I like the front adjustment on the seat I think it only increases the height in the front of the seat not the back. I think prior to Ford releasing the Focus ST here Mexico got the previous generation Focus RS funny how close we are to Mexico but the difference in vehicles.

of course that only makes sense if you don't have a fit yet. I guess most people don't become freaks till after they bought a fit...
And yeah, I drool every time I see the noblesse kit.
I can't remember the details, but I actually looked in to it for a friend who wanted to import a Japanese Honda in to the US, and with tariffs, shipping, etc... the cost is high... not to mention what it would take to get it registered. And this was quite a few yrs ago.
iirc, it's easier to do that with cars 20+ old.
Also, I think a few Canadian members did buy their GE8 in the US... I think that's easier.
NAFTA anyone?
