because they say they added something into the first oil.. um... tank. And it should be driven till the oil life goes down to 10-15%. Well... if you stick to the manual.

I don't know for sure about the Fit, but Honda said the same thing about the S2000. With the newer technology ceramic-composite cylinder walls, they added a large amount of Moly to the initial oil fill, which helped the pistons seat properly in the cylinders. The new cylinder wall material took longer than normal to break in, so the high-moly oil needed to stay in longer than if the cylinders were just metal.

I think I recall reading that the Fit has ceramic-composite cylinder walls (I could be wrong). That would account for it though.

I'll follow the manual's oil change recommendation strictly then go to synthetic if that is allowed under the warranty.

They probably put conventional oil in from the factory which is better for breaking in the motor because it will help with the seals etc. The big thing is to let the car warm up properly and to let it cool down etc. Don't be a dumb ass but that doesn't mean you have to go slow or anything or drive it like a blue hair from Florida. But deff switch to syn at the first oil change and if you take it to Honda they more than likely will put syn in since its probably the standard oil for the car.
