Is Honda Planning A Fit Si? ? NSEAVoice
The Ford Fiesta has been dominating the mini hatchback segment and this is mostly owed to the performance of the EcoBoost engine. The basic 1L 3-cylinder EcoBoost unit is able to offer so much fun while also returning superb fuel economy figures. Then, there is the Fiesta ST which is built to offer more thrills and speed.
Now, the rumours are suggesting that the end is coming for the Fiesta as rival carmakers are stepping up to offer more interesting hatchbacks. To be more precise, the rumours are claiming that Honda is planning to produce a performance-oriented version of the Fit.
Tentatively known as the Fit Si, the vehicle is tipped to run on the 1.5L turbocharged engine that is offered with the latest Honda Civic. The motor will be refined to offer about 200hp and more than 200ft-lbs of torque. With such an offering, the Fit Si will be capable of challenging the Fiesta ST.
As exciting as the above sound, it is still based on rumours hence it should be taken with a grain of salt. Then again, since Kia is developing the Rio GT and Chevrolet is linked to develop the Cruze Hatchback SS, we could just see the Fit Si getting produced.

I don't think so, the Fit is aimed at "trendy" young woman and men who are in the college age range. Honda is hitting their mark perfectly, I don't believe they have any reason to spend more money developing an "Si" version of the fit.
I like Honda a lot, but I believe the days of fun sporty honda cars are behind us. It's a shame.

I think they are starting to get back to their roots a little more. The new Civic is suppose to be back to the days of the older models. The Accord has always been a great road car. New Type R and rumors of bringing back the S2000.

-Be the size of an old Accord.
-Only have a 6MT offered on the absolute base model.
-Have crap McPherson strut suspension
-Have a needlessly complex aesthetic inside & out.
Honda will never recapture what it once was under Mr. Honda himself.
