Fuel, noise from gas tank Questions
#81
I just got my Fit and I noticed it right away, maybe because I was driving with the windows up, radio off so I can experience how quiet it is. Only hear it when I come to a stop at less than 2mph. And it sounds EXACTLY like my stomach filled with water, haha.

My mechanic told me the gurgling was because there was air in my coolant lines due to a very small leak. However, the dealer said there was no leak and it was due to the gas tank. Who really knows what's going on with my Fit....

If there was a leak you will know. You will loose coolant and will see the residue all over your engine. Also, any leak in the radiator will spray out since it's under high pressure when hot. I think you might just have air bubbles in your radiator.

Gurgling noise heard in cabin area FIX
I took my car in to Honda Re: the gurgling noise.
They noticed:
-cooling system low.
-found suction tube in the reservoir had fallen off its holder, not allowing it to return coolant back to the rad.
*Repaired and topped off coolant*
I have not heard ANY gurgling from the cabin area whatsoever since.

I've heard mine do it a few times now. Unfortunately I'm a noise freak, any squeek or rattle and I'm all over it like a dog on a bone until I fix it. I could tell it was coming from the gas tank because the sound was coming from under my seat and behind me slightly. Only time I hear it is when the radio is off and I'm driving around town which is rare.

I may be late on the subject here, but you guys all know that the gas tank is right below our feets right? its basically sitting in the middle of the car. You're probably bound to hear gas slooshing around with it that close to where you sit.

Hi,
A while back I read in this forum that some Fit owners claimed they could hear and/or feel the gas sloshing around in the tank under the driver's seat. Is that correct? My only experience with the Fit is a short test drive, and I didn't notice anything like that, but I wasn't really listening for it. I'm seriously considering purchasing the Fit , but I think something like that would really bug me if it was noticible. So is it common, or do you have to be hyper-sensitive to notice it?

I doubt anyone in the drivers seat heard gas sloushing in the gas tank under the rear seat. I suspect they might have heard water sloushing in the air conditioner water drain pan. how many were in heavily humidity regions like gulf coast or FL.
