Should I buy first fit?

My friend is selling his Fit. It’s 2008 sport automatic with 140k km. He’s owned it for 8 years and done regular oil changes. He is selling it for cheap but it has two issues and just wondering if they are major to fix. I’m quite good at car repairs but haven’t had these problems. The shifter sometimes won’t go into park no matter how hard you try unless you drive back and forth a bit. It’s always done this apparently. It also misfires when you are under load and have the rpm over 5 grand. I can get it for thousand dollars Canadian so is it worth it?

I am no mechanic. If it is beyond an oil change, I will bring it in to a shop to have the work done. If you are confident in your abilities then I could see this being a fun project.

That is not much money to risk.

Not sure what would cause the shifter issue, but the misfire can be traced to one of 3 things about 99% of the time...
1. spark plugs
2. ignition coils
3. valve adjustment

Not sure what maintenance has been done in the past, but all 3 of those are due if they haven't been done before.

Park issue is probably the cable being out of adjustment..
If the cable hits full travel before the mechanism for the shifter it has to "compress" the
cable and thats sub-optimal for it working well, lube the cable with ATF if its gummy.
