bad gas consuption

My new fit sport at (1200 km) is getting apsolutly bad milage!
I drive mostly city (Vancouver) and i am using around 12l/100km!
My best tank was empty around 350 km!
I dont know if that is normal or what but i was expecting more than that? I am not speeding or anything , shifting before 3000!
Any ideas?
IS there any chance the milage will get better after a while (engine break in)?

MT or AT?
I'm assuming that regardless of which, that you're driving conservatively (ie. keeping rpms 3k and below).
**IF I was driving conservatively getting that bad of mileage, I'd take it back to the dealership & get them to check the codes on your car, and go from there.**

U did your first oil change yet? I had my first oil change at 1000km and it runs a lot smoother after. Just wait and see what happens after it has 3000km on it..........

I can do roughly around 360km/tank FYI. As long as it's above 350km then it's ok for me.

Don't forget that if you are running the AC compressor, you will reduce your milage about 30%. This includes using the defrost setting on your HVAC controls.

Yeah, I haven't done my first oil change yet but I'm getting atleast 400km - probably a bit under 400 now but over 380km due to my test pipe.

Geez, your numbers bite it big time.

I haven't had my first oil change, but today I was at 450km and the 1/4 tank mark. And that was with a LOT of AC use.

Fairly mixed driving, part city, part "highway" (many many lights).

after your first oil change the number will be better. before first oil change I was gettting only 380 - 450. and after oil change, well I haven't had a full tank but managed to get 320kms using 25L.. full tank maybe 550ish.

also check your tirepressure! pumped mine up to 42psi front and 40psi rear.

Yeah I drive my Fit pretty hard (fast accel) always, and I'm getting 375-450km every tank. And I don't overfill, I let it stop when it clicks off the first time. I seem to fill up around 30-32 litres every time (I fill up when the warning light comes on because I don't know how long it'll last past that point haha).

Oh yeah, and haven't had the first oil change yet. At about 6000km mileage so far. Oil meter reads 30% life still! rofl...

My first service light came on around 5000km. 5000km and already 15% oil life. Now I'm at 8000km and oil life is 70%. Mine eats a lot of oil.

I fill up once a week...I drive mostly city (small city with hardly any traffic jams). I seem to go about 275km every week. It usually clicks at about 20 liters...so its pretty close to half a tank. I usually throw another liter or 2 in after the click.

I got great mileage on a recent trip to Halifax though. I filled up here and filled up as soon as I reached my destination. I drove 392km and it clicked at 20.5 liters...I put in another 1.5 liters after the click. 392km/22l is 17.8 km/liter...which works out to 49.8 MPG...right on what Honda Canada calls for.

Tires were all at 37 warm, I have just passed 5000km with the oil life at 50%. I was going anywhere from 100-110km/h on cruise.

Wanted to being this back up to see how the mileage was going for others. I did my calculations for post oil change tanks of gas (oil change was around a month ago), and on one tank I beat Honda's numbers (5.2L per 100 highway), others mostly in the 6L range. I filled up today at 579km, still a bit up from empty. Mixed highway driving, fair amount of lights.

Looking at the previous numbers here, as long as I'm in the 6 range I should be happy? I would prefer the 5s with our gas prices on the island.
