I know of 8 that were sold about the time I bought mine back in April/May. I'm sure more have been sold after that. Local dealer has finally realized the demand for the car and is now pricing the FITs at $1000 over MSRP. I've seen 3-4 on a regular basis on the road when I commute to work. When you compare the population of Kauai against Oahu and the number of FITs sold on each island, I'm wouldn't be suprised if the percentages favored Kauai.
People are fed up with the high gas prices here.

Maui and Kona and your area are all bad. I heard on Molokai it can reach $5 per gallon for premium. For that price I can walk or ride a bike.
Makes no sense to drive a big SUV or Hummer at 10 mpg.
Your FIT looks great. Nice wheels. I see them on MINI coopers and Miatas.
Yep... can't wait for Costco to open up in a few weeks so at least there will be some gas price relief. My son lives in Kona and he says the gas prices there are worse than Kauai, so I know what you mean.
Thanks for the comments on the wheels... in fact they came off the MINI that I sold when I bought the fit.
To me, they looked a lot better on the MINI, but they work on the FIT and that's all I'm looking for right now.
Are you a member of NAM... Minihune, perhaps?

You blew my cover!
Yes, it's me.... MINIhune.
I bought a FIT for my daughter in school in Indiana and I'm going out there in a few weeks to A) Drive the FIT, or B) visit my daughter for parents weekend, or C) Have fun driving the FIT. Hmm. What should I do.
I still have my MINI and lots of wheels to try on some friendly FITs on Oahu. I think they will fit ok since the MINI has a huge +48mm offset like the FIT does.
I don't get over to Kauai as much. Once every few years. Are you ever on Oahu, if so let me know.
Aha!!! I thought so!
Reason I've been so insistent to find out if it was indeed you was to thank you for your invaluable contributions you made on NAM. You do Hawaii proud by being an exceptional good will ambassador and fountain of knowledge there. I hope you stick around this site and continue your most helpful posts as you did there and be the same sort of asset here.
A big "mahalo" to you, sir!
Do you plan to AX next weekend?
I am planning to be on Oahu this weekend, but unfortunately my schedule is pretty much full. I will, however, keep you informed of my future visits so we can get together and meet. If you are ever on Kauai, please let me know so we can get together here.

I sent you a PM. Call me if you are interested. Anytime is fine.
Yes, I learned so much from MCO and now NAM. The MINI was the first ever car I have modded. One small thing led to another and pretty soon I was totally involved. It's been a learning process and sites like this one help others immensely.
Oct 15 will be the next autocross at Aloha Stadium. All are welcome. 30 drivers can show up that morning very very early about 630am would be best to try to sign up for same day registration. $28 to drive for non SCCA members and $20 for members. First come first served.
We make the course for the day that morning, check it for safety then run all day from about 930am to 5pm then clean up by 6 pm. Most novice drivers get to have an instructor and will drive at the end of the day in heat 3 or 4. Spectators have their own area and are free. Parking is 50 cents for the stadium flea market- they have food there as well. We have 130 cars of all types. Stock classes are competitive as well as the modified cars and stock cars do very well with about 4 or 5 placing in the top 10 for the day with handicap. No Honda FITs yet but we can get from 6 to 10 MINIs per event. I'll start a new thread about any Autocross dates on this forum.

You can't always tell if these are just visiting or not.

Maybe this weekend I can go over and say hello.
Spotted another FIT!!!!
Gee, I must be getting better at this or I am growing "FIT sensing" antennae.
I spotted a black FIT sport with HFP rims and Potenza RE750 205/45-16 tires in the parking lot at work this morning. Child seat in the back with lots of "toys" on the floor. PDC--- with safety sticker from April.
Got to be one of the first FITs on the island from the TONY group.
Pretty compact looking compared to the other small cars in the lot.

He didn't have any trouble finding the base SSM it listed.
Frankly I'm surprised that more people are not interested in the base model but perhaps everyone is told that the FIT Sport is more common to arrive so they are all waiting for that one.
If I were a salesman I would be calling all those on MY LIST and get a sale now.
The key here is yes you can pay less but you WILL be waiting for who knows how long.
Now here is the "kicker"...
The salesman says that their dealership is NOT expecting ANY MORE Fits until 2007 due to end of the model year. Not sure if that really is TRUE but that would make this SSM FIT that much more attractive.
You can go see it on the lot in front at TONY Group. It is not all prepped yet.
Tell your friends. I told the salesman I could not buy it. No paddle shifters!
